For the lady who asked how do you add more yarn if you run out before you finish the answer is. Tie on a new ball but keep the knot at a nail. That way the knot can be trimmed off when you do the fringe.

I now use xcut soft handles scissors you can get them on ebay. Yes you can use a shuttle and if you shuttle tie pom pom blankets you tie from the reverse and cut the pom poms from the front so you dont cut through your tying lines and if you watch this tutorial you will see how I twist it so you can cut from the front too without your pom poms coming loose. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqXRY6qwZ52sqpo

Alison I have watched this tutorial several time and can't decide whether you are saying to complete 10 rounds in total or 10 rounds of each colour making 20 rounds in total, I have put the subtitles on to see if it's clearer but just can't figure it out, sorry it does take me while to get things. could you give me a tip also on using all 4 balls together making the large ball as I'm finding that they get very twisted?
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel6 жыл бұрын
Lisa, each full round is made up of half a round of white and half a round of black. You need 10 FULL round to have a nice blanket. So yes, you will need 10 rounds black 10 white (20 altogether) but this makes 10 FULL ROUNDS I hope you understand what I mean The colours are done in half rounds.

Gorgeous! But may I ask if I am making a big blanket, how would I join wools if I run out of a roll?
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel7 жыл бұрын
Just make sure you finish where a nail is and tie on more wool, that way there wont be a knot in the middle it will be at the fringing and you can cut it off once the blanket is complete and no one will know. That is what I do.

Do we tie the edges twice just so babies won't pull it out? I mean if I'm making it for my self or an adult, do I still tie twice? Does it give it a longer life?
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel7 жыл бұрын
Yes, and I would still recommend it for adult size it keeps the strands in and you never know if a toddler will get access to it so much better to keep the blanket as safe as possible.

4 x 100g of one color and 4 x100g balls of the other should give you 2 standard size pram topper blanket. I use a demo size loom so its smaller. Average loom is around 21 x 26 nails

@sophieseaman9537 жыл бұрын
Also how far apart are the nails just I feel my pompoms are to small thanks x
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel7 жыл бұрын
most frames are one and a half inches apart. if you intend to sell your blankets or want more fluffy pom poms do 6 rounds for the pom poms this will make them take up some of the gap in between each one.
@ajcollins88494 жыл бұрын
I notice you usually twist the yarn when you tie it " the twist slip knot " you never on this blanket...can I ask why you didnt?
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel4 жыл бұрын
I probably just forgot, with this one the loop is enough but with pom pom ones I always make sure I twist the loop for extra security.
@ajcollins88494 жыл бұрын
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel . I made two Pom-Pom blankets last year but I individually tied and knotted the pom poms. I'm going to try the technique you shown the twist Slipknot instead of individually hand tying each pom pom ,when I first seen it I was scared that when u cut the Pom-Pom the knot would come untied, but I see now it will hold. What a wonderful ideal and makes things a lot quicker and boy does it save your fingers OUCH!. .. do you suggest tying the regular pom pom blankets from the front or the back ?Thank you Alison for all the wonderful videos I sure enjoy watching you make these blankets you are Beyond talented God bless
