How to care and propagate Pomegranate tree.
This is a follow up videos on the tree care.
If you want to know anything more about it let me know in the comments and I will replay or make a video.
This is how I prune and propagate my pomegranate trees. Yes I make it tree shape do not want it to look like a bush. If you have any advice on it please let us know in the comments below.
Hope your garden is doing great and happy gardening.
I am posting daily on Instagram now. You can find me under #smallgardengrower

1:12; so about training the plant as bush vs tree: I agree with your point about mowing. I'm not sure how much of a problem snakes are in your area but other animals you mentioned such as spiders and some you did not mention such as lizards that live under bushes are absolutely benefitcial to have in your garden. They kill pests. This is the idea of a suburban "food forest."

We do get snakes as well. Plenty of lizards here as we did not have a dog or cat to harm them

Thanks very much for this, it was very helpful. I have the exact size tree in my front yard and started to prune it this afternoon but i wish I saw your video first because I was cutting the offshoots instead of trying to propagate them. Anyways very kind of you to share. I had one fruit on it last summer for the first time but someone pinched it. I hope I get more next season.

Propagation..it's not the wrong way. It's the easiest way. Thing is you only get a limited amount on a large tree like this. This is one of the main methods nurseries in Croatia use for hazelnut tree propagation and it gives a quicker yield and faster growing plant than one made from cutting. If you wanted to you could get one of those plants in the pots and prune it down really hard and then drop or mound it and then you would encourage new shoots that will root. This method is much better for beginners compared to cuttings. Those ones with the side branches you said you would prune you should have "Dropped" those plants deeper into the pot and a very good chance is you would have a second rooted plant by the end of the season as pomegranates are easy rooting plants. Also pruning down those newly potted plants to the first or second bud will encourage new vigorous growth. The tiny hair like roots are most critical to success so when you are digging out plants like this you should't be so vigorous as they are easily damaged. Ive been doing cutting for years and still often have almost total failure due to timing and rotting. Ive tried cuttings, fogponics, aeroponics, misting, bottom heating, plant tissue culture etc and its so easy for something to go wrong with these various other methods.

I have never had any problem with the pomegranate. It grows like crazy always had plenty of trees to give away.

@@MyCroatianHomestead Yes. But now you have more land it will be handy to learn how to get bigger results. Use this knowledge you gained with the pomegranate to not have to buy so many plants for your orchard. You can buy only 5-10 plants one year and multiply them into 20-50 using what you have learnt instead of buying 50 at once.

Very helpful. I have had my first pomegranate bush in a pot for 9 months. I live near you in Sutherland not too far. Now that it has lost all of its leaves I will be pruning mine as you have in instructed. Hopefully propagating some backups . If my one does not make it I might message you for a spare
