Pomfret Pulimunchi / Pomfret Tawa Fry Mangalore style
Pomfret Pulimunchi is a Mangalorean style fish fry recipe. We can serve this fish fry as a starter or can be served as with plain rice or dosas
Ingredients
1. 650 Grams Pomfret Fish
2. Oil to Fry
Ingredients I ( To marinate fish)
3 Tsp Chilly Powder
1/2 Tsp Turmeric Powder
1 Tsp pepper powder
1 Tsp Salt
6 Tbsp water/oil
Ingredients II ( For Masala)
1. 12 -15 Dried chilli soaked in water for 20 - 30 mins
2. 1 Whole Garlic bulb peeled
3. 1 Tsp Kashmiri chilly powder
4. 1/2 Tsp Turmeric Powder
5 Lime Size Tamarind or 1/3 Cup Vinegar/lime-juice
6.1 Tsp Salt
7. Shallots 5 - 6
8. Curry leaves
9. 1 inch ginger
10. 1 tsp pepper powder
STEPS
1. First step is to clean pomfret and marinate it. You need to make a paste of all ingredients before marinating
2. Keep aside the marinated fish for 30 mins( 20 mins in fridge and 10 mins outside)
3. Make a fine paste Ingredients II and and set aside
4. Heat 6 Tbsp of oil in a heavy pan place on medium flame add the fish and fry for 5 minutes on each side till the fish turns light golden to both sides remove from flame and reserve on a plate.
5. To the left over oil in the pan transfer the masala add little bit of that chilly water place on low Flame cook until oil surfaces on the masala.
6. Add the fish to the masala spoon the masala all over the fish and fry for 10 minutes once oil surfaces to the sides serve hot
