Can someone tell me how otto's ranking is significantly more than beast but beast won the match against him ?
@bentonxavier50942 ай бұрын
First of all I don't know where you got that idea from, considering you cannot simply compare Louis and Otto's ranking to their respective countries and if you wanted to go by the ITTF men's singles ranking list, you'd see Louis is in the top 800 whereas Otto doesn't even appear on there. Secondly, rankings do not always determine who is the better player.

@@zeuhnciean4161 That's what I thought after rewatching a few times, but it clearly wasn't super obvious, since Otto looked confused too. So what happens if a shot would've gone out but it was too close to tell and it was returned? Where's the line drawn? Err on the side of it would've been in? Or deliberate on the slowmo replay until there's a concensus?

@@Hackrifice Otto wasn't confused - he jokingly said it was his point but it was obvious he knew it was Beast's point. As with your other question, if it is not clear who's point it is, the umpire will decide and cameras recording the match can also be used.

Has anyone commented yet on the fact that Otto has an illegal serve every single time? The toss has to be vertical and he gives it at least12-20" of horizontal movement helping him generate more spin on his serve.

Otto has such a risky play style, not just after he’s losing but right from the beginning. His shots are massive, unreactable, unseeable, but so inconsistent. Even as a low level, I can tell his games depend on how many of those lands on the table. While Beast focuses more on consistency and less power. Personally, I hate playing people with Otto’s style because they’re just hoping to win by random luck. Most of the time, they just smash my serves out the table making me pick up the balls.
@Tom_TP5 ай бұрын
I somewhat disagree. Otto doesn't "rely on luck", but more like he doesn't want to or can't move much, in exchange he has his strats and his deadly moves. Superior players can beat him, yes, but weaker player may not be able to beat him no matter what they try. An example would be Otto's match vs Dan. To me Otto is like an old man playing TT (I'm not saying he's old, mind you :P). He looks very casual, but if you don't know what you're doing, he would destroy you faster than you could say "What happened?"
@kenji27875 ай бұрын
Don’t let his size fool you. He’s an amazing player and it’s not like you can finish points against him by placement because he “can’t move”. The only thing I dislike about his style is the kamikaze style. He can win without those. In the match against Dan, most of his kamikaze style attacks failed but he still won.
@RatatRatR5 ай бұрын
It isn't 'random luck' when you've put in the time to get good at those big shots.
@kenji27875 ай бұрын
What a pointless argument. They’re called risky for a reason. There are balls you can go all out and there are balls that you just don’t. He’s missing majority of the shots here. That’s not “good”. Beast can do the same too, but why doesn’t he? You think he’s not good enough to do it?
@RatatRatR5 ай бұрын
"Beast can do the same too" And does on almost every point. It's why they call him Beast.

Otto is like I'm way too big to play table tennis properly, but what if I just use my weight to generate a lot of heavy spin on my slow balls and hope that my opponent can't return them fast, then I don't really have to move, do I?.. Legit strategy, but has a skill ceiling certainly :)
