The hero hails from another land and gets his first glimpse of this famous kingdom, that too duing the festive day of "Aadi Perukku" (Coincidentally, Aadi Perukku in 2022 is tomorrow ! ). Sangam culture is nature centered consciousness where the river is sumbol of life and civilization. During this time of every year, the river swells due to the monsoon rains in the Western ghats… and the delta land being rich agricultural fields for paddy- it is a big festive event- called aadi peruku- which is the also opening scene of the hero in the book. The reason why raja raja chozhan is called son of Ponni , because he felt in to the Ponni river as a child while on a boat with his father. The interpretation goes like some one all of a sudden from the river is handing over the chilld to his king the father. It is described the goddess ponni itself came as human and saved the child and hence he is called son of Ponni. I don’t how much of it is fiction but the way Kalki describes is always amazing 🔥🔥🔥
