Pontiac G8 bad temperature sensor

Pontiac G8 2008 V6. Temp sensor is located on the driver side next to the oil dipstick. After getting an overheating reading on dash the car was towed to me. The vehicle had no leaks, no boiling cooling fluids, radiator fan worked fine. The scanner showed 175F cold and laser temp gun showed 80F. After further inspection I found the connector to the sensor was peeled and touching each other, compromising the real temp reading and the sensor itself. Sensor was replaced and the connector.
