That looks good to me. I think I'll build one myself, except that I'll put a lightweight storage building on it. No sense in building when you can just buy a storage building and install windows in it. Much easier and all aluminum instead of wood... which means it will be lighter weight. Kinda excited about it.

Go for it! One nail and screw at a time and it'll get done.

Enjoyed watching your houseboat project, well done. Can you give the details of where the old yard for those used pontoons are located? Interested.
@classicperformance2 ай бұрын
It is in SC Thank you for watching. Go on facebook Marketplace and old pontoons are easy to find there.

Question, I’m looking at doing a project exactly like this design you have here, but my question is, wouldn’t it have been much lighter of a build if you had used metal stud framing? Loven on your build so far. Thank you for sharing
@classicperformance9 ай бұрын
I considered metal studs, actually and you would be correct. I just did not want to mess with them and the limitations with fasteners. The weight did not seem to be as much of an issue as I thought.

Very nicely done. Looks great Curiosity,.. How do you get on the rear deck and where is the control station for the outboard?
@classicperformance2 ай бұрын
We added aluminum fold down walk decks to access the back and fold up for docking. the helm is a remote helm from the front deck.

Love the content as I’m in the process of buying a boat. Where did you end up putting your wheel and throttle?

Nice and thanks for sharing and for the inspiration. How do you seal the water from leaking into the living area?
@classicperformance10 ай бұрын
David, It has a metal roof, sill sealer rolled foam under the wall bottom plates, caulked, house wrap, glued down woven vinyl over 3/4 marine plywood on floor with sealed and taped joints. Front door is caulked and xip system taped, etc. Not a chance of any water getting in anywhere and with the foam filling all the stud cavities, it is unsinkable. Thanks for your interest!

Just a question. Couldn’t you have just bought a 20’ container and insulated that?
@classicperformance2 ай бұрын
Far too heavy for a pontoon. They can weigh up to 4,800 pounds. This entire boat weighs less than just the empty container. Thanks for the interest!

top heavy
