What is your experience with Amisulpride?

Great Question, this is a rather new antiemetic drug and where I work its not on formulary. If anyone has used it please comment on your experience and efficacy.

We just rolled out the use of amisulpride. It was rolled out by our eras committee and we don’t use regular now. I’m on the fence about it because I really liked regular for laparoscopic procedures that had cramping and gas pain.

I work in PACU and one of our go-to meds for PONV in the PACU is haldol. What is your go-to antiemetic medication?

Phenergan and Emend In have had great success. Haldol works too!

@@pacunursingminutes does phenergan make them sleep too long? Does zofran help in combination?

@@danielleg2616 Yes, Phenergan (H1 Antagonist) may cause drowsiness. Best to use a different agent/drug when treating PONV, so if they have had Zofran (5HT3 receptor antagonist) you would want to pick a drug from a different class of action. There are several drug classes to work with in treating PONV/PDVN: 5HT3Antagonists, H1Antagonists, NK1Antagonists, D2/D3 Antagonists, Multi-modals, anticholinergics, Corticosteroids, and acupuncture and fluids.
