00:01 BWAAHAAAHHAHA BEST INTRO EVER!!! :D I watched it thrice before watching the rest of your reaction :D 02:50 "Magic: The Travelling" is canon :D 04:34 When Twilight Sparkle says that, you know that things have gotten serious :q 04:08 Yes it is: to the song "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" by The Police ;> Quite fits Glim-Glam, doesn't it? ;) 04:37 So spells have Latin-ish names now, like in "Harry Potter"? :q 06:35 That Trixie portrait on the wall :D And the crossed-over equal sign... looks like Glim-Glam is already changing her world view 180° since she lives with Twilight ;0) 07:09 Twilight seems to have a talent for drawing ponies ;) 09:35 It's a song from Crazy Town... I mean... Lazy Town :P 12:50 Ever heard of the Halting Problem, Starlight? :q 16:30 Bugtraq Fluttershy :q 19:48 Hangover ponies are canon :q Looks like Magic _can_ give you a hangover after all... Unfortunately, a hangover cannot give you Magic :P 22:05 That music.... :q Did Hasbro cut the costs again and Danny Ingram is forced to make music on Casio now? :q 24:10 Yeah... And they stole my idea again ;/ Combining simpler spells into more complex ones was one of the ways Magic was supposed to work in a MLP game project I was secretly working on :q But oh well, at least now it's canon... 25:50 I heard that this is how the mind control spells actually work: they control only the conscious part of the mind, but they cannot control the subconscious part, and the subconscious part is doing what it can to sabotage the mind control spell by taking a kinda word-to-rule strategy. It follows the orders in the most exact and literal sense it can to introduce as much bad impact as it can to the magician in charge, everything within the limits of the spell ;) 26:50 Yup, but it's not really a "leak": it's been aired by Brazilian television legally, just before the official premiere in the USA. Fortunately, they aired it in both languages, Portuguese and English, and someone recorded in and posted on KZbin. 27:30 No problem, it's better that way to be honest, because the "leaked" version can possibly have some pieces cut out due to time limits of the TV station or something. And since I watched it already, I know that there are some glitches and the stream disconnected in the middle of the video (which has been recorded), so there's a short part missing. But the person who recorded it, put the missing part on his Google Drive, so in case you wanted to react to it earlier, I can tell you where to find it. But yeah, better wait for the official premiere, especially that publishing stuff before the official premiere is a serious copyright infringement, because it doesn't fall under the fair use. Anyway, I can't wait to see people's reactions to that movie, because it's AWESOME! xD I consider it the best-written part so far :)

4:33 Twilight? You mean Starlight? Twilight didn't say anything. ...ah, you mean 3:47? 4:08 Yep, got it now. Like I said, I usually find out this stuff pretty quick after the episode. 4:37 I guess? 6:35 Ah, I didn't notice that. I guess this is Starlight's room? 7:09 Or Spike, since he's usually the one writing stuff up for Twilight. Maybe he's into more than just _reading_ comics. 9:35 Yep, thanks for the link. I had no idea what everyone was talking about... 12:50 `follow_instructions until starlight.is_back?`\ 26:50 Seems like that's happening a lot lately. The entire remainder of season 6 is coming out next week due to basically the same thing happening in the UK, right? 27:30 Yeah, even when we react to stuff early we usually don't post it until the official release. We did that with one of the previous season 5 episodes I believe, though I don't remember which. Anyway, definitely looking forward to the movie.

I think, when it comes down to it, magic is basically the same thing as programming, like in Eternal Darkness (or the pony game Ambiance). All you need to do in that game, is to tell your magick what you want it to do using a simple verb-noun-adjective pattern, for example Enchant-Item-Element to power up your sword with any element, or the spell that restores your sanity Absorb-Self-Sanity can be turned into a spell that restores health, by using the Health-alignment. You can even try to restore your magick by using the blue alignment, but due to the law of conservation of energy, it restores the same amount of MP it needs for casting (like buying money with money), but you can cast a spell, that draws in magick from your surroundings, instead of your own energy (like the spirit bomb) by using the Summon-Area-Magick -Spell. Such a system would also explain why twilight was able to cast the dark magic during the season 3 premiere, even though shes only seen it once: She already knew about Emotion-magic (like the want-it-need-it), she just needed to change it, so it would project hatred at the crystals instead of love
@AndrewMeyer8 жыл бұрын
I imagine it's a bit more complicated than that though. Otherwise they wouldn't need spellbooks for all the more complicated spells. Plus there are also apparently spells that need to be read out loud, like Starswirl's Unfinished Spell, the Inspiration Manifestation, and the magic Power Ponies comic book.
@proclarushtaonasat8 жыл бұрын
Andrew Meyer Of course its more complicated than putting three words in line, i just meant it as an example for how spell-syntax etc might work. Like how programming is actually very complicated, even though its based on simple commands and structures like if(condition;then;else) For the power ponies, i think, what spike read out loud wasnt a spell, just a trigger-word to activate it, after all, he doesnt have the ability to cast spells, like when someone enchants a door to only open when someone says "sesame open" if(input"sesame open"; execute(alohomora);execute(colloportus)) Or the timetravel scroll, that starlight enchanted to go off, when spike picks it up. For the inspiration manifestation, i always thought it as odd, that theres a whole book for just one spell, and that one has to keep the book close, for it to work (at least for a while). Maybe the spell is really complicated, like the whole book is basically the equivalent to ... i dont know,the .minecraft file, containing libraries, config files etc, stuff it needs to run properly, and the part that rarity read out loud, was the equivalent to run:minecraft.exe, that activates the book and tells the magic to follow the instructions in the rest of the book. Thats why its supposed to be held close, untill the users body got fully used to it, so it can keep running the commands without instructions. Again, Starlights time-travel scroll. Its implied, and in the end a full plot point, that twilight can only timetravel with the scroll, yet she doesnt have to read it most of the time she used it, she only channels her magic into the scroll, like "magic, do what the paper says". Starlight on the other hand has already memorized the spell, so she can use it without the scroll. I dont know how starswirls unfinished spell works, we dont even know what it actually does, is it an alicornification spell? Or did it something else, and celestia turned her into an alicorn as reward. whas it designed to work with the elements of harmony and what would happen if someone cast it without them. The writing staff is always kinda vage when it comes to how magic works, sometimes it works as the plot demands without explanation, sometimes it seems to make complete sense, like, how sunsets plan to take over the element of magic was basically the script for ocarina of time.
@proclarushtaonasat8 жыл бұрын
Andrew Meyer Another example would be for example Transmutation in Fullmetal alchemist, where they have to specify what they want to do with the materials by writing down the instructions with runes and glyphs. although they never explicitely state, HOW those work, i imagine they have some kind of syntax too. Also Harry Potter and Eragon use simply another language to tell the magic what its supposed to do (Latin and Ancient Norse/Celtic language) although a simple mispronunciation can alter a spells effect drastically like the wizard baruffio who said S instead of F, summoning a buffalo on top of him, or when Eragon used the wrong form of the word protect, turning a blessing into a curse.
@AndrewMeyer8 жыл бұрын
***** Yeah, Transmutation in Fullmetal Alchemist is more of a science than magic really. While there might be some similarity between programming and spellcasting, I guess I feel like programming doesn't quite capture the mystical aspects that I expect to see in magic. Programing is very logical and is mostly about describing in precise detail what you want the computer to do. Magic seems to be less focused on describing what you want to happen and more about discovering the underlying principles behind what you are trying to do. Not to mention the difficulty in executing even spells you know, whereas in programming executing simply requires pushing the "start" button. As for the Inspiration Manifestation, I actually don't think there's any evidence the book needed to be kept at all after the spell was cast. "Only when true words are spoken will you finally be set free" wouldn't exactly be true if simply destroying the book shortly after casting the spell would have worked. Both Rarity and Spike _thought_ that destroying/removing the book would prevent Rarity from using the spell again, but they were never right about that to begin with. Also, regarding "Celestia turned her into an alicorn as reward", I just feel the need to point out that Celestia didn't seem to do anything during Twilight's transformation. She just kinda stood there and watched while Twilight transformed, and her horn didn't glow once during that entire process. Not sure Starswirl's Spell had anything directly to do with it either, given that Cadence apparently became an Alicorn using a method completely unrelated to that spell. Then again though, it's really hard to say. My take is that becoming an alicorn works very similarly to a pony discovering their Cutie Mark. It's a natural part of the way magic in Equestria works, not a consequence of any type of intentionally cast spell (whether Celestia's or Starswirl's).

***** Yeah, the Netflix version has been out for a couple days now, so there's no reason for us to use the Brazilian version anyway.

Starlight claims she doesn't make mistakes when it comes to magic and yet, she's made several that we've seen: 1. Taking other ponies cutie marks away. 2. Miss using Starswirl's time spell for her own nefarious plot to erase the mane six's cutie mark connection. 3. Casting weird spells on her friends( Big Mac and the mane 5). I find it hilarious that both Starlight and Trixie were the only ones capable of keeping Pinkie quiet using magic, it's not an easy task using other methods.😝

I think she meant she doesn't make mistakes in actually casting the magic. Like, it's sort of like saying "I never miss with a gun" or, to match the phrasing better, "I never make a mistake with a gun." Shooting something or someone you morally shouldn't doesn't change that you didn't miss with it.
