Poof, to get around the controller issues and/or not being able to gain separation from CPUs, I have a few tips: 1.) especially for mirror, you want a character that gives you an outright advantage. Use Daisy or Funky Kong, as they both give +4 in speed to any vehicle you equip w/them. 2.) Mario Kart Wii is weird in that the true fastest speed in the game is actually when you wheelie on a bike; if you're in first, chain those wheelies!! you'll get incredible separation. There are some other really nerdy mechanics Ik that I use regularly but I hope these help! Keep up the great content :)

Those three things I mentioned are all mapped to the dpad for some reason, which means if you hold the controller like normal, there is no way to access those inputs without letting go of the left stick. In other words, in order to be able to access those inputs at all times, you use your index finger for the left stick and your thumb on the dpad. Similar story for the classic controller. Thumb on the left stick, index finger on dpad. The nunchuck, while also bad, fixes at least this massive problem by mapping these three functions to motion controls, allowing one to hold the Wii mote and nunchuck normally. I would _love_ to use a GC controller for MK Wii, but they just had to map wheelies, tricks, and pow dodges to the literal worst button on the controller.

hey i have some advice: play vs races in mirror mode or just 150cc or whatever and turn the settings to no items and just try winning like that. and then in time start playing with items and you’ll gradually get better. and if you want you could go into any time trial and just practice the maps like that. you can unlock items and characters by getting ‘Expert Ghost Staff Time Trials” or something like that on Time Trials. Even if you do one on accident, you can always cancel it with a drift hop. If you find yourself doing it a lot though, you should probably try and keep your hands more still, lol. Also, I’ve said this before, but you would have a much easier time playing MarioKart if you switched to the nunchuck or classic controller.

poofesure try using the wii remote with a nunchuck, it’s so easy and i win all my races with it. With the Wii Remote all you need to really do is hold B to drift, and press A fastly to get your item faster.With the Nunchuck, use the analog stick to move and all Z (the bigger button) to hold you items behind you. C on the nunchuck jus shows you behind you. Hope this helps next time you make a video!
