I've had this game for a long time. It's the same one that came out on PC in 2006! That's why it looks so primitive. Yes, you basically have to do the same things again and again with increasing difficulty. You have to play the ingredients off at the right time--when you've got two with 13 seconds and they each have veg and grains, you do the veg on one side and the grain on the other, and then do it in REVERSE so they cook at the same time. If you do that you can get your dishes done at the same time. Also, the best rhythm I've found is to let the first couple wait until you've actually seated the second before you take their order, and so on. Gordon will be angry with you at first, but then you get into the rhythm and everything comes out at the right time. The game has just a few mechanics but if you don't know them, you won't get very far.

This game is just perfect in every way. At 0:13 you can feel Gordon’s authority. You can feel his short temper when it comes to cooking. At 0:22 you can also feel how seriously he takes things when it comes to cooking. When it comes to the actual gameplay, it is accurate. Gordon actually cursing paved the way for games to curse, as it had never been done before. The way you had to cook the serve the customers was flawless. This game truly was ambitious and anybody who says otherwise is an idiot sandwich.

The way to get the dishes to finish at the same time is to put the bowls in the pots in the opposite order. There's a whole genre of puzzle games like this about timing and logistics that goes largely unnoticed. I think they're unloved because once you understand the puzzle, it's more chore than satisfying to go back and do it right the second time.
