I work on the distribution end of swimming pool materials. Note to any homeowners out there: if you have a salt generator, please make sure your contractor installs a zinc anode in your line. The zinc bar in the anode will attract the salt and prevent corrosion of any metals such as ladders, handrails, and especially the heat exchanger in your heater or heat pump.

I need HELP! I changed my sand in my filter. Trying to put my valve back on and it won't go all the way down flush so I can put the collar back on. Do I beat it down? Lubricate pipe?

I'm a pool installer and i come across this issue sometimes. Make sure the pipe inside the filter is exactly in the centre. Then it should go on easily. Sometimes you just have to beat it down to have it flush so u can wrap the collar around it. You should also grease around the tip of the pipe and do the same thing for ur valve. Wouldn't hurt to grease the rubber ring on the valve to avoid any water leaks.

Very informative and simple. Thank you! If I have two main drain lines, is it safe to run while people are using the pool (who might try and touch the drain grates)? I’ve heard horror stories of people getting stuck and drowning.

Not if it doesn't have a good cover. There are laws that require them these days because of those horror stories from the past

Put your jets pretty much where ever you want just as long as you point them in an attitude or direction that disturbs or manipulates the debris to the skimmer. Not to be confusing at all. Maybe opposite of skimmer side to push debris towards skimmer

Same! I was missing the weir/door. The poll company didn’t put it in after they opened my pool for the summer, they left it in my shed. Lousy companies. I plan to graduate grom Swin Unersity so I can open/close my unground liner pool one day.

The pipes connected to the pump? Those are PVC pipes that carry water from the pool skimmers, to the pump, and then to the filter.
