Great video. Thank you for putting in the effort to educate me. Question.. I only need to add couple of missing anchors as the pool cover came with the house I bought. Can I use my ryobi drill or the impact driver to drill the hole or could I rent a big drill from a big box store? If I can use my personal drill, what drill bit to get? Thanks again

I have a cover for my amoeba shaped lagoon pool. 56 anchor holes!! Its a pita to put on and take off due to shape, weight, and landscaping but worth it. It only takes about 20 mins to get pool ready to swim in after taking it off 👍

Are you angling the drill so that it is slanted slightly outward? To compensate for the spring's pull in the opposite direction? I looks like you're angling the drill a bit as you're making the hole. Great video, by the way! My cover had zero instructions.

U drill straight. The anchor isn't pulling out once it's in. Had one for 18 years and just replaced it. Had to change 3 of the anchors. And they are in there. LoL. With the concrete being that old you have to be careful not to have it chip. They do make a little cover to hide it. But it's a great system.

Awesome video! I'm always worried at this time of the year when I go to put on the cover because two seasons ago when opening the pool I had 2 plugs pop out and another 2 with concrete chipping around the edges. I assume it was due to over-tightening the previous fall. I'm wondering how tight should it be when I connect to the pins? Do you have a rule of thumb or tips for placement before using the pole to slide on the ring over the pin? I've been keeping it fairly loose to account for snow accumulation.
@TheRykerDane Жыл бұрын
It should be as tight as a trampoline. but you can always adjust the straps. The springs should move about 3-5 inches when tightening

I bought a very similar mesh cover for my rectangle shaped in ground pool. Only thing is I have a paver patio back there. You think I can drill/install these anchors into paver bricks out there??

Probably not.

Hi. So can you walk on this over the water and in Spring, you take it off, how do you fold it or roll it? Where do you store it?
@TheRykerDane3 жыл бұрын
Yes you can walk on it. Take off in the spring ans fold and store in a bag it came with.

How did you measure where to drill the hole for the anchor
@TheBekkaroo712 жыл бұрын
Did you ever find out? No one ever says how far out to drill the hole. 🤷🏻♀️
@ryanhuber14912 жыл бұрын
From what I've learned, it's 20 inches from the edge is where you want the anchors. Hope this helps

Most of them are 3/4 inch bit and it 30 to 32 inches from edge of pool where you drill for anchor use a snap chalk line to mark you 32 inch perimeter around your pool the drill on those lines in line with your straps

What is the distance from the end of the strap/ring to the anchor before connecting? Need to understand where to drill for anchors.
@TheRykerDane Жыл бұрын
Well its different all the time. But generally at least 18-24 inches back from the edge to get good coverage

How far do drill the hole off the end of the spring. Looked to be 3-6 inches.
@TheRykerDane11 ай бұрын
That doesnt matter as much because they straps are adjustable. Distance needs to be measured from the edge of the pool

nice video! To complete the process, once u have the spring on the strap where u want it, how many inches from the spring center loop did you mark to drill the hole? I may have missed it but watched a few times. Also I assume a 3/4" hole? Seems like u marked the drill bit but went deeper, so I'm guessing deeper than the housing is clearly not an issue? Thanks

IF I just put a canvas over my pool, and put 3 inch cement anchors and bolts with washer for play , can I buy a cheap canvas and hope it lasts a year or two before we move or die? We can't afford the Meyer type $775 for my pool....I can get a tarp for $99 yes I know its not an ideal choice but it is a 40x20 pool the canvas I can get is $99. I know this is not ideal , but I cant spend more...? I cant and my yard looks like a dump if I dont do something.

What size drillbit are you using? And the second question is how far out away from the pool edge is the anchor placed?

Watching as you perform a one man job with the shop vac on, holding it down with one foot, while drilling, is extremely impressive. Dude, where is your cape? Thanks for the strap measuring tutorial. If you have a spare moment, QUESTION: I am replacing my LL cover. The 16 year old cover is torn in the middle but it is installed over a murky water closed pool. Every strap/is anchored and is in place. Does my idea of leaving the old damaged cover on, for support while installing the new over the old make sense? If so, would you divide the removal of the old side to side or deep end to shallow? (36 by 18 straight rectangle). Just one woman attempting it. Trying to take one more tasks off hubby's plate. Does my one woman plan sound doable? Or insane? (in case you were wondering, the latter is my normal mode). HA!
@edhlavaty6914 Жыл бұрын
Your new cover on the simple rectangle pool should be a standard layout if its already had the LL on it. Mine is 16x32 with the steps. They should be 5 foot spacing and no need to change All the brass anchors if they are still working fine. Get the old stuff out of the way
@b.walker5955 Жыл бұрын
@@edhlavaty6914 THANK YOU. I got er done! I was thinking the new cover would sink into the murky water and I didn't want to go in after it. As it turned out it sort of unfolded rigidly and stayed that way. I did use my insane idea of leaving the old one on for support to avoid having to touch the swamp water. (there were swamp creatures living in it!)

Hi, I have a new Raynor mesh cover over my kidney shaped pool. The installation instructions say on one page "Tighten straps until springs are compressed by 50%" But on another page says no more than 50%... Should I be aiming for 75% which is in the middle?
@TheRykerDane Жыл бұрын
Yes thats good, but after you do a few of them you will feel what is too tight. They can be adjusted of course, and you just want them to be snug. The tighter they are puts more stress on the stitching and more stress on the springs
@SamJoshAlex Жыл бұрын
I’ve heard of using pipe insulation to protect the pool coping from the straps. I don’t understand how
@TheRykerDane11 ай бұрын
Cut it in half? but that seems like a lot of work for not much of a difference
@bigdog2.0162 жыл бұрын
All you need to do is drill at the end of strap. Perfect every time. No need to do Al the measuring.
