I’ve been using solar blankets for many years. Definitely the clear one (or white one) does the best job. We’ve tried blue and blue/black in the past. Currently I use a 1200 weight blanket with round bubbles (didn’t like the diamond shaped bubbles) My 25 year old reel rod isn’t straight anymore due to rough handling and overall age so I’m looking for a replacement. Sun2solar looks like it’s well made so I’ll probably get one of those. Thanks for the review. Btw, in the Midwest it’s not as hot, I use 4 of those 2’by20’ black poly solar panels and run the water through with a dedicated 12 v irrigation style diaphragm water pump on timer and control by a smart switch. The pump generally runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and it pushes 2-3 gallons per minute with average temperature step-up of 8-15 degrees depending on the sun.

Thanks Mark....Great video. .....Concise and to the point..and great demo. Not sure where your pool is ...mine is out here in Inland Empire (Rancho ) and is already down to mid 60;s ...Oct 21.... drops a lot at night . I can swim comfortably in 70's....even low 70's...but not 60's. Not a kid anymore. Do you think this cover would keep my pool warm enough in winter ? At least some of winter ? Would really like to extend my swimming at least into Nov or so... It really gets cool in at night...into 50;s even now...But then in day is often over 80....and sunnry...well into December some years.

Sorry for the late response, damn youtube sign in problems. I'm real familiar with the IE (Norco) If your going to use your pool on weekends and leave it on all week might be good for you. Temps dropped here and put cover on for a few days and was surprised that it heated the pool with being in the low 80s. Pool was 78 and the cover brought it up to 83. Hope it works out for you.

Great helpful video…one question on the reel: do you know the part-model number from Sun2Solar? The one they say I need for the same size 1600 series(22x40) is $450. THANKS!

Item #405524MS is the 24' wide, Item #405520MS is the 20' wide, this is off their website and our receipt. We bought the 24' reel and slid the tubes inside each other so the wheels are about 18'. We probably could have used the 20' but didn't, ours doesn't sag in the middle because we did that. The shocking part is we paid $299.99 for the 24' real and $284.99 for the 24x40 1600 series cover back in Feb. 2021. Amazing how much the cost has gone up, OUCH !!

Can you leave the pool cover on for a few days? Can you also run the skimmer/pool pump while the cover is on?
@Pitlane326 Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can leave the pool cover on as long as you want. I take it off every week to clean or if it gets too hot. Does not affect skimmer, pump, pool sweeper ect.

You said you don't use it in the summer..... does it not help with water evaporation???

Hi..your video was very useful. Do you have the product link for the reel that you use?
@Pitlane326 Жыл бұрын
Here's the link. Comes with both reel ends and aluminum tube that is adjustable up to 24'. They have other widths also, hope this helps. www.solarcovers.com/product/monsoon-in-ground-swimming-pool-solar-blanket-cover-reel-up-to-24-wide

What’s the reel?
@Pitlane3263 ай бұрын
Got it from sun2 solar, 24' and adjust down to 16'. The only problem I've had with it, broke 1 hand wheel/crank because it was so windy here it blow the whole reel and cover into pool with wheels locked. hahaha. I should have tied a rope to it and pulled it out.
