Very well made tutorial. I agree with Ufuk, it’s very important to train your subconscious to do most of the work. Elite players aren’t frozen by constant thinking on each shot, thus making the game much less mentally exhausting. Training your subconscious by doing repetitive drills is the only way to get to the higher mental level of pool. Glad to hear somebody stress the importance.

Completely agree, a lot of videos go into details on where to hit the ball to pocket it. This would help beginners and improvers but what I've found out (which I've tested myself) is that all shots can seem to be very mechanical. You end up trusting the mechanical method over your own intuition and ultimately leads to failure. The mental state you get yourself into is "how the hell did I miss that shot".

This is a great drill. As he said these are shots that ALWAYS come up when I'm playing league or in a tournament. He really knows exactly how to explain the game so that ANYONE can understand the game. So I want to say thank you for the great info. I have found that all of the videos on this channel are helpful and easy to understand. Unlike other pool channels that only confuse people. I've been playing pool since I was 7 years old so I know all of the terminology related to pool but I've noticed that some of these professional pool players will try to teach others by making pool videos, however it's like they are speaking a different language. There are many great pool players in this world but just because your a pro at pool doesn't mean you have the ability to teach it to others. What some of these guys forget is that the people that watch and/or buy their books and videos are doing so because they want to learn to play or want to get better at the game. So thank you again. I look forward to every new video.😁👍

Awesome! Cant wait to practice this. I've been out of the pool world since 2005. I used to be backed by a lot of ol heads in my local pool hall again random road players that would come by. I played in a few pool tournaments also. Joined APA a month ago in hopes of it forcing me to develop some consistency in playing again. I played yesterday and not only did I win my match but afterwards, I ran through my whole team 4 times each beating them a total of like 12 wins. Your vidoes have definitely helped me get back into the swing of things. Very much appreciated!

Also if you want someone to remember to like share and subscribe, rather than using the word don’t forget, use the word remember. The brain does not hear negatives so when you say don’t forget what you’re actually saying is do forget. Hope this helps thank you for your videos I really appreciate them

I think the most important lesson from this video is know where you want the cue ball to end up and allow your subconscious to do the rest. Very good lesson.

If you have to stop and think how to cue the ball during a match, you're in trouble. You haven't done your homework. I've had many people ask me how I determine where to hit the cue ball to get it to act the way I want, and my answer is usually, "I don't know. I just look at where I want the cue ball to end up and shoot the shot". There is a drill that I made up long ago: Place the cue ball 1/2 diamond out from the side pocket. Place an object ball 1/2 diamond out from one of the diamonds adjacent to that side pocket (use those little binder reinforcement labels to mark these positions for consistency) This gives a slight cut shot to one of the corner pockets. Now take a piece of chalk, and randomly toss it onto the table. Your job is to make the shot, and then make the cue ball roll up and just nudge the chalk. To be successful, you must be able to control many things: - how high or low to hit the cue ball - how much English to apply - type of stroke (stun, normal roll, draw, force follow, etc.) - speed of the shot - how much you can cheat the pocket with any given speed - etc. When you first start doing this drill, you might have to think about exactly what you need to do, but just keep watching what the cue ball does after contact, and you'll start to unconsciously internalize all those factors that add up to ball control.

Practicing until you no longer have to think about what you’re doing or where to hit the Q ball is called muscle memory. It only comes after a terminus amount of practice whether it be playing pool or dancing or using a gun it’s all the same brain has to engage until the muscles take over. We do it every day when we drive a car. But just to say you don’t have to think about it is not going to get somebody to a higher level of skill yes you have to think about it you have to figure it out you have to watch every little detail and that takes time lots of time and lots of practice. So please don’t keep saying you don’t want to think about it you don’t wanna think about it because you have to think about it you have to figure it out you have to watch and study what you’re doing and then later much later you don’t have to think about it is it. It’s easy for you to say that because you’ve been doing it for years, so just use the word when it gets into muscle memory then it’ll be easier. But people who areTeaching others use that word you don’t have to think about it and that is not the truth. And it makes the beginning person feel stupid because they do have to think about it. I just hope that maybe you watch read this comment and change your statement because it makes the beginner feel really awkward and dumb. The teacher keeps pushing that thought. Beginners need to think respond and react think again respond react think again respond react and then overtime all the programming goes into muscle memory.... Which is where the instructor already is. So please give us a chance to learn without feeling dumb or guilty or stupid
