The most common question I’m asked about repairing a swimming pool light (typically a new bulb) is “does pool water have to be drained?’
The answer: No.
There should be enough cord wrapped around the fixture in the niche so that when the light fixture is removed from the wall /niche that the cord will reach up onto the deck allowing the fixture to sit on the deck and be opened out of the water.
