Used the flex tape patch and last less than a month. And left a glue in the material. I have removed the glue, i’ll give it a shot tomorrow with the vinyl glue and patch. Thanks for this video.

Once you put the glue on and fold that side together, how do you keep the edges from curling? We have 5 tears in our liner that we are trying to repair. All are on the bottom of the pool. The first patch that we tried is a 12" circle covering 2 of the tears that are close together.

a 12 inch patch is a pretty large patch but if you can get the tears sealed you can always come back and add a dab of glue around the edges to get the curling down. I have never done a 12 inch patch under water but normally I just put a dab of glue on my finger and work my way around the outside of the patch if the out side is starting to peel up.

I love your videos! Quick question, how much do you charge customers for patching? Especially on the deep end. I am thinking of scaling my services but don’t know if it is worth my time. I have my scuba cert, so the deep end is no problem, but if I only get $40 or so, it’s really not worth the effort.

Our charge for patching liners is $135 per hour with a minimum of one hour plus the price of a patch kit. We normally make them drain a couple feet of water out if it's in the deep end of the pool. Using scuba and not having to drain the pool would be a convenience for the customer and I would charge an extra scuba fee on top of the normal rate. I have never had a customer complain as long as the patch holds because a couple hundred bucks is way cheaper than replacing a liner. Thanks for watching and good luck!

Sure I have patched tears up to 12 inches using just a vinyl patch. It is a bit messy though trying to get enough glue every where and then applying pressure to the patch over the tear but is doable and worth a try before having to buy a new liner.

Do you sand the liner before applying patch under water? What type of sandpaper??

You just want to make sure the surface is clean and free of organic material. Lightly sanding the area with a 200 plus grit sand paper and wiping it clean with a cloth should do the trick. Be gentle and thanks for watching Jane!

Anderson leakmaster peel and stick patches. I get them direct from Anderson at leaktools.com the patches are pretty reasonably priced at like 6 dollars at the time of this video. The catch is if you don't spend like 45 dollars you have to pay for shipping which ends up being more than the patches but the longevity I'm getting from them is worth the shipping I think.

Thank you for this video, i have the same issue with our above ground bestway pool, can i use any adhesive? I only got a piece of patch with it, no adhesive, but i do have genkem contact that i used on my fishing wader... can i use it on the pool too? Does it mess with the ph and health of the water? Thank you

Hi Jonny, I would try a little bit with a patch on a non vital part of the pool first to see if it sticks properly. If it does you can try it and messing with the ph of the pool is doubtful unless we're talking about a 12 inch hole were patching.

Vinyl pool patch kits should work on most types of vinyl pools inground and above ground.

This only works if your patching a 1-2 year old liner, after that it’s faded to where you’ll have to use clear, or the dark blue will stick out

I think a patch that sticks out a bit, if you are that observant as most people go in a pool to swim, have fun, or cool off and not stare at the liner, is still cheaper than dishing out $4k for a new liner.

Normally years. I have had a few pools that had bears get in to them and after fixing over 20 holes in them there still not losing any water after 4 years.
