Thanks for all your hard work on this series. I've got my own (very amateur) channel so I know how much work goes into coming up with such good quality content and so much of it.

i now video myself practicing. I had an issue hitting off to one side, but when i was caught in the background of a video in a comp i could see i was gripping the cue too far back. I moved my grip and solved the problem. The best advise ive learned is to become a student of the game and a student of your mistakes.

Very nice analysis! The graphics and camera placement, in general, worked together to make everything you were saying crystal clear. And you have confirmed my hunch that being a good pool player requires a great deal of skill and intelligence. Fortunately, the game is a lot of fun, and it feels very satisfying when the object ball goes where you want it to go.

Thanks really appreciate that. Yeah it’s a great game for any level of player and you’re right, very satisfying when it all goes to plan!

Recent got a table at home and I've been loving these videos, thanks for making them. What is the light you have above your table? Since I'm also an After Effects animator / developer I'm really curious if I already know your animation! But I can imagine you might not want to reveal that identity on here…

Cheers. The light is a Supreme LED table light. No don’t mind sharing it. I have my own company (which is just me) called Squash & Stretch Animation Ltd. I’m based in Ipswich.

@@PoolSchool That is a good looking light, thanks. Nice work! I'm based in Norwich. I used to do more commercial animation but these days I mostly make tools for After Effects (Limber, Penpal and Bendio).

Great videos, thank you. I've noticed as I que up the que is brushing against the side of my chest, is this normal or a big no no? I'm a fairly good potter but no consistency so wondering if this could be the cause. Strangely distance shots seem to be my speciality but I miss so many close range shots and I've no idea why!

Than you. Yes I have the cue touching my chest, it helps keep it in line and stops sideways movement. It should only be a soft touch to the chest though, don’t pull it in tight to your body.

It’s a Hainsworth Precision in Silver, not easy to get hold of either!

@@PoolSchoolthanks, do you think it is faster/better than superfine?
@PoolSchool
@PoolSchool Жыл бұрын
I’d say it’s slightly faster. It’s pretty fine, which makes it quick, but does mean it can mark quite easily if you’re not careful with it. There’s very little between them though.

Blackball - I always place my cue tip/cue on the table to get in the line of the shot and line up my right leg/foot (my coach in Asia told me to do this as an aid and I just kept doing it) along the shot line. I then lift up the cue and get down on that line and play my shot. In a league game my opponent claimed I was cheating/marking the table (I use Taom v10 green on a green cloth). Am I commiting a foul? Thx
@busterbuster1641

I should add that I keep my right hand on the cue at all times - essentially i'm visualising/pointing to the shot line through the floor and to the cueball.

Marking to the table to assist a shot is a foul. There’s nothing that says you can’t touch the table with you cue but you would have to be incredibly careful not to leave some sort of mark if your tip is touching the cloth. If you leave any sort of mark, even if you are not using it, your opponent is right that it is a foul. Maybe just do the same thing holding you cue just above the surface of the table?
@busterbuster1641

@@PoolSchool It's become quite engrained in my game but I'll start just holding up the cue above the table to get my line. Cheers mate ;)

the tip rise is because you are so low with the chin. try to stand up a bit and its gone. or open your hand while you follow through.
