There are mutes in the original. Totally agree, however this is required for Rockschool grade 3.

@British Boss It is played three times only. The guitar sound you hear where the rests are is actually the backing track (background guitar, not the lead one). You can hear that when u listen to the backing track in this video 2:30

It's really hard. Something that takes a long time, I feel Ur pain. It's less about accuracy and more about muting the strings u don't want.

So for the power chord 3/1 ( f5 chord) you put 1st finger on the 1 on the E string, 3rd finger on the 3 on the A string. U can use Ur 3rd finger to mute the D string, just let it touch it slightly. And/or use Ur 1st finger and ly it kinda flat over D G B and highE string.

I appreciate you are not technical support on all this, but wondered if you could answer a question about this song and guitar pro. So I got my grade 3 book yesterday, and started entering the notes into guitar pro, mine looks exactly like yours (1st 8 bars so far) BUT guitar pro is making the bars red and insisting I have either too few or too many beats assigned for the intro chords. I have the same rests, dotted eight notes etc - its driving me mad lol Did you have this? Did you just ignore it?

YEah I wondered that. It sounds better with, to be honest when I have taught this, I teach without so to be true to what the written notation is, however I have a kid learning it at the minute and he already learnt the main riff with the ghost notes in. I am just letting him carry on that way. I don't think they will mark down, if anything its more true to the original and challenging so shouldn't be a problem. However the short answer is....I don't know.

As for the solo, it doesn't matter if you play the solo as written on those frets as long as it transcribes to the same notes somewhere else.
