In this week's video we venture offshore with no plan other than to catch fish. We start the morning looking for Mahi Mahi & then slow things down to try and score a Snowy Grouper on the bottom. Throughout the video we will fill you in on tips, tackle & Techniques in order to fill the cooler down here in the Florida Keys. Top top it all off we we clean up our catch and enjoy a delicious recipe to close out the video.

I suggest you also keep the collar/grouper wings that include the throat. Scale these and then cook them with the rest of the grouper as an appetizer. There is a ton of meat, only large bones to deal with and the meat is generally considered the most flavorful on the fish. It is an unexpected bonus, like cheek meat medallions.

Nice catch on that Snowy. Do you folks do any crab traps? I'd put that carcass in a trap off the end of your dock. Works great for blue crabs

Thanks so much! We do not but have thought about it. If we fished more to supply the traps with bait we'd do it.

@LifeByTheBow well you don't have to use them all the time. Catch fish, load traps. If you're catching crabs ... load them when you have carcasses or use sardines. If you don't store them in the garage or shed. Not sure what the crab run looks like in the keys...but if it's anything like my area it's better during a few months a year. Tight lines!
