I'd say this game didn't deserve the popularity this game got, but it's still good. Its got some cool concepts, okay puzzles, and it can be scary during chase scenes. The grab-pack is a cool mechanic in my opinion, and the visuals are great.

To be honest, I don't consider Doki Doki Literature Club to be a FNAF clone. It is in my opinion, the antithesis to FNAF. While FNAF has varied gameplay, Doki is meant to be a visual novel parody. While FNAF is made fun of for its jumpscares, Doki is still considered terrifying to this day.

I feel like horror games kinda just started to lose that scary tone and started to focus more on their lore and stories, and I still like those types of games as long as it's done right, but it also kinda ruins the horror genre because since it's mostly focused on children so scary = bad, and I don't blame them, because if you do anything that the community hates will be a 1-way ticket to being cancelled.

Games can most definitely still be scary and have incredible stories, we have been doing for decades, Silent Hill 2 is still the epitome of an AMAZING (and heart wrenching) story that ties directly into the horror of the game. Hell the horror and story should be interlinked, that is what all of the best psychological horror games do (funny enough the best examples I can think of are inspired by Silent Hill). My all times favorites like Cry of Fear, Total Chaos, Penumbra/Amnesia/SOMA (Frictional Games' stories slaps) Lost in Vivo, The Cat Lady, and so many many more. All far better then Poppy Playtime in every way.

I like how second chapter of Poppy consists mostly of Bendy key plot elements just scrambled around. Currently you have: -after defeating a monster, you meet a friendly character -friendly character gets captured by the evil mastermind -you have to complete mastermind's tasks to get out -you also have a mechanised way to get out (elevator/train) -evil mastermind gets killed -your "way to get out" crashes -you (probably in poppy too) get separated with your companion after a crash

There they harassed a young animator named ekcrocoaster, trashing his animation despite him on multiple times asking them to not. It got to a point where he had to get mental treatment for it.

The moment I saw the first picture of the big stinky blue turd I knew this was just gonna be FNAF but the devs knowing it was gonna print money no matter what. I saw this game and immediately moaned in annoyance. It's Amnesia! For Kids! And the moment I heard of the NFTs I knew we were truly living in the darkest timeline of videogames. I just do not see the appeal even as a dumb "so bad its good" game or anything like that. I just personally, think indie "horror" is more like capitalism² than a scary experience ever since FNAF blew up. I feel like a horror game could be done well without feeling the need to do this. Idk how I can say this at the moment but [OFF TOPIC RANT INCOMING] I feel like there are two types of horror games: 1. Creepy because story / lore / "vibe" 2. Creepy because gameplay I honestly might make a video on it because I feel like I could better represent it that way but for the best I can describe it in a comment, here goes nothing. #1. Creepy "Vibes" This is your sort of Slender, The Screecher (look it up, it's a Don't Starve Mod made by the devs), that sort of thing were it's more of a horror movie walking simulator but still can manage to be decent via story alone. You feel scared because of your surroundings and watching the chilling story play out makes you feel very on edge for the big jump scare and game over. Another way to do this is to have a very cutesy/funny game have very dark undertones and to have the tones become the main thing, before eventually either the game ends with big scare, or you save the day via dumb funny stuff. A good example I have is Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, a game about the pandemic, lockdown, doomer thoughts, and memes. #2. Creepy Gameplay I think there are subcategories to this one. 1. Player Guilt (this one also kinda fits into the first category) 2. Startle-Induced Chaos Category number 1 is simple: you feel awful for what you did. This could be a form of horror, seeing as you feel scared of yourself now, but honestly I just kinda felt like a need to mention it. Category 2 on the other hand is far more interesting to me. For Example, the game Hunting Bigfoot is about, CAN YOU GUESS? The atmosphere can be sort of creepy, but it's mainly Bigfoot catching you and your friend of guard, leading to lots of gunshots, traps activating, and screaming. It isn't that scary on paper, but sudden startling things often can feel scaring, even if not intentional. Heck, minecraft can be scary by just have a random mob popping out of nowhere. This one is often the funniest, just because ensuing(idk to spell) chaos is just plain funny to see. I hope that I could someday make this comment / possible video more easy to understand. I had to leave a section out because it felt repetitious of the prior one, since I could think of anything that seemed interesting or unique for it. I hope at least something in this stupidly long comment made sense, it probably took 4× the amount of time it took to watch this video, but I will just end things here. Fun fact: Here in Poland Huggy Wuggy (hate that name btw) toys are absolutely fucking everywhere (I saw my 3 year old cousin play with them) and Poland is currently busy trying ban them from our schools. It will most likely be popular like BATIM for awhile and then it will die down in under 2 years or so. BATIM went from big epic horror game in 2017 to the game people never really remembered only 2 years later so I don’t expect Poppy Playtime to be any different lol

The game aside, I’ve always hated zaminations/enchanted mob for their animations. They look so cheap, annoying, pandering, and sometimes sexual. Just exactly what kids want to see. Hell I would probably love their videos if I was still 10. It’s no wonder I keep seeing their designs used in pop up ads for scam online games on KZbin cause the designs look soulless enough to suit an advertisement.

I had high hopes for this game when Chapter 1 released, thinking that it aimed to do what Bendy couldn't do with its poor planning. When I learned about the drama and NFTs, a fair amount of that hope left me, but a little bit still remained. It's clear this game has passionate developers working on it as shown by the game's presentation, but the game's reputation is sullied by the lead developer's shady history. I'll consider picking it up when Chapter 4 comes out, even though I don't want to give money to a game that aims to capitalize off of children. But in the end, all that matters is the enjoyment of the individual. So what if I'm giving money to a studio founded by an absolute dick? If I end up having fun with it, then maybe the purchase was worth it.

okay, so they kinda agree with me, I honestly don't think it's bad, it could have some bugs, like 1 normal one, the the rest you seriously have to be looking for, the idea wasn't stolen as much as just the idea of a abandoned place going evil, insert indie horror game here, and the bullying thing, from what I checked out, it was one of the developers, but I don't actually know if they bullied, didn't check for that, and the chapter pricing is a bit wierd, but it looks like they're fixing it, honestly, the only issue I've noticed is that they're getting too ahead of themselves in marketing, they have to build a community then milk it, they're milking it way too early sometimes, but other than that, it's pretty good, the game doesn't feel low effort and is pretty surprising it's from a small dev team, and it's kinda refreshing to have some game lore that isn't confusing to the point it's killing itself

The game doesn't really have a "scary" factor to it, there are some spooky moments. Not even the main chase sequences are scary because you barely see what's chasing you and the chases aren't even difficult, it's just running through halls and then killing what chased you. It doesn't involve a y unique mechanics that the game has to offer, you just run and nothing else. You might use the grab-pack once but other than that the game is pretty atrocious. But I dont support the game because of the creators, who are not very nice people if you've seen what they've done and all of the drama involving them being unkind and such.
