Lestats' inability to recognize claudia & and louis' feelings when the kid died was brilliant it rings true to the books description of lestat character he's so far removed from his mortal coil at this point where he can understand the emotional weight and attachment a love one's passing means. I think Sam Reids' portrayal of lestat is venturing on being magnificent better than Tom cruises interpretation... As for baily bass performance of Claudia, she brings so much weight to the character that wasn't allowed in 1994

Exactly!! That was so well said. One of the things that I absolutely loved about the writing and the charactization (and of course the acting, because good lord)... But one of the things I really loved, is how well they show how disconnected from his humanity, Lestat is. And how desperately connected to his humanity Louis is, and then by relation, how Louis' humanity is so bright it's actually able to reach the little bit of connection Lestat still has. Like Lestat says in the book, even in his cruelty Louis is able to touch the "tenderness" in Lestat. Basically, Louis is able to bring out Lestats humanity. As small and shriveled as it is 😅 But back to Lestat, to name a few scenes, that I legit had to pause while I was watching. Just to marvel and how well done it is, and how subtle yet right in your face at the same time: When Louis almost eats his nephew, Lestat does a great job at manipulating Louis into a better mood. But his complete inability to be companionate or empathetic to why Louis was so upset. He pretty much was just like "I'm sorry you're so upset boo. OKAY this is boring, lets go see an Opera". Then when Louis' on the verge of total mental collapse as he watches his town and his people burn, because of something he did. Lestat's just like "I'm so proud of you, lets make this our anniversary" 🤣 I genuinely laughed till I was wheezing, at that. Because I was just like 'Lestat... your psychopathy, is showing'. Then lets not forget the infamous "Because I like it. I enjoy it", the way he says it. Like he genuinely cannot understand why Louis was so upset... It's beautiful in just how well it's done. All around 😁

Episode 4 is so funny and cute...until it isn't. And it's so good. The way this show does juxtaposition is just art. I really like how they flipped the baby trap element. In the book it's much more a metaphor for actually conceiving a child together, which Anne wrote so well. But I love how in the show it's very much Louis' idea, but he doesn't really consider the implications whereas you can really see Lestat having his light bulb moment of this being something that ties Louis to him. And it also works great with the telepathy element where Lestat is immediately cut off from something Louis and Claudia share. Oh and Bailey Bass is so good as Claudia. The way she's completely believable as a young teenager and later as a 30-something is so mind-blowing (especially considering she was only 18 when they filmed).

Lestat, reminds me of that parent that teaches you the hard way to care for your pets. Also, thanks for understanding why they aged up, Claudia. It seemed that too many book readers wanted her to be 5, like in the books. Well, probably the same people got mad when she was aged up to 12 in the movie version. That's just creepy and wrong on so many levels.

Yeah, I don't really understand those types of book-fans. I'm a pretty serious book fan, have been since I was a kid. And I am extremely happy and satisfied that they aged everyone up. But specifically Claudia and Armand. Because the books have this really disturbing pedophilia theme to them, and I personally feel like they're doing their best to keep that part of the books as far away as they can. And I am thankful for it. It's literally the reason why I haven't read the book "The Vampire Armand". I've heard so many truly horrible things about that book, and while I do really want to read it, before S2, I don't know if I can. I have absolutely no tolerance whatsoever for pedophilia and sexualization of children or teenagers, to the point that reading even fictional versions of it makes me physically sick and turns me off the entire thing. I barely made it through some parts of the books because of it. I love most of the books, don't get me wrong, but just...🤮

Interview With the Vampire. Classic book. Great movie. Awesome television soap opera. All analytics aside, it's a superb story.

imo Claudia and her inclusion from here on out makes the show. lestat really meets his match with her..Louie couldn't have picked a more intelligent and cunning girl even if he tried, thats all I say. her creole accent really brings out her charm. even with ther 15-16 age up she still has most of the same issues about being "stuck" in a tween body, she says something like "my options for romantic intrest are either young boys or old pedos" which u can imagine really makes her...resentful. Charlie was the closest thing to "normal" she could have n lost it immediately! even he was uncomfortable with her age. lestats rather harsh way of teaching her why they don't get emotionally attached really does register with her, but st the same time that registration and realization of her predicament really fucks her up mentally and leans her into cruelty, which turns her more like lestat rather than a more timid and level headed louie.
