I know it doesn't sound like it but I swear I mean this as a compliment. This mural looks so good it belongs on a U-Haul truck lol. The first one nailed the cool modern RV style but this one is on a whole other level.

As someone who has been told he’s too anal about a project’s details and who’s has engaged in countless builds, many before the bottomless pit of information that is the interwebs, I take my hat off to you Sir. You done a truly superb job on this project. I am planning my own houseboat based on a stripped down pontoon boat and I have every intention to steal everything you’ve shared in this series to make my houseboat better. In this day in age, where people praise crude builds as craftsmanship, it has been refreshing to be able to binge watch a true Master Craftsman. Thank you!

Regarding the roof and the roof hatch, from my experience with boats, you'll have people sun-bathing on that roof the first day you anchor up on a sunny day. Not sure you need to swing the hatch around to accomodate that. Should it become popular and turn out to be difficult to navigate, some kind of grab handle might be sufficient. Oh, and if you don't expressly forbid it, kids will dive of that roof. I know I would have... Or will you fill the roof with solar panels?
@adrianwoodworm2 ай бұрын
Good points! I talked about this in the comment section on one of the videos. The roof hatch is there for one purpose only. To be able to switch from chimney to raincap above the woodstove, when traveling on the road. That means only half of my body will ever stick out up there. The curved roof wouldn't make for a very good deck anyway. Besides that, I do plan on installing solar panels on some point. Kids will have to jump off the deck in the front, or ideally, there are no kids on board😄
@mattiasfagerlund2 ай бұрын
@@adrianwoodworm I remember you talking about the hatch - I've been binging so that was a day or two ago for me. The roof is curved - but along the fore/aft axis, a dedicated sun worshipper would fit - especially after a long cold winter :) But solar panels seems like it would claim that space. Have you given any thought to the top-heavyness of your boat? Any chance you'll require ballast at the bottom to keep it steady?
@adrianwoodworm2 ай бұрын
@mattiasfagerlund You are not the first one to bring this up. I think the bed frame that is tucked under the ceiling gives people the impression that the boat is very top heavy, even though the frame weighs only 60lbs. I believe that the two water tanks, batteries, fuel tank, motor, and part of the cabinets themselves act as ballast since all of it is located at the very bottom. (My boat doesn't have a traditional bilge space) Also, the two 3 inch keels should help to prevent sudden excessive movement along the longitudinal axis. Of course, if I cover the entire roof in solar panels, I would add a lot of weight! That is why I would go for flexible monocristalline solar panels. They are much lighter. But all of that is still far in the future. At the end of the day, there is only one way to figure out if the boat floats, and on that day, I will also figure out if I was right about the top heaviness😄

If there is no plywood to 12:17 minimized weight, will paint canvas hold up a dome shape structure? Wonder how PMF can hold up uv?
@adrianwoodworm3 күн бұрын
I never tried PMF without plywood backing, so I can't really speak about that. UV light is not a problem. Out of all the finishes you can apply to wood or canvas, paint is the most UV resistant one.
@VITAKENNY3 күн бұрын
0:26 I think it will be like wet canvas frozen. It can not hold up the shape with little external force apply, but again has to do with built size to material thickness ratio. If model size, could hold up, if life size will not. Expotential relationship. I am also study the other u tuber using only foam with ur technique to build a trailer. His is all about weight conservation. Ur is about $... Just like fiber glass boat under the uv too long will deteriated. Another tuber use heavy duty recycle corrugated cardboard to build a round shelter. 0:26

I managed to accidentally delete the original video while messing around in the shorts section in the youtube studio app. It really sucks because now I lost the comments and the view count.
