Looking good, Keith! This will be perfect for my old 1957 Winchester model 12.

These are pretty light shooting due to the speeds. Would make for a dense decoy load in a cylinder choke with #5, #6 and even #7 for timber style hunts.

Please share more bismuth loads. I am learning and it seems hulls and shot cups and components listed in the reloading books I have bought all have one component that's hard to obtain. Thank you for sharing this with the general public

@@user-iv8hc8fm5o search for load data from BPI using the MG42 wad and new Cheddite hulls... 1-1/4 or 1-1/8oz... Awesome wad. Probably the best patterning non tox wad out there.

Great load. I'm new to reloading and this gives me something to do with all these cb 1138. I didn't know they came in bags of 500 lol.

Yeah for sure! 😆... It's a great wad for heavier payloads in 2-3/4" 12... A few bismuth loads I've found with it. Figured I'd share... I also came upon an entire 55 gallon bin of old Remington peters and AA one piece hulls to make use of.

Im starting loading this year and this was my bismuth load for 12 ga. Im using Remington STS hull of AA. Im from Utah and I dont think alot of people load shotshells here, so its hard to find out data.

I was making and testing the same load last season. Couldn’t seem to get these wads to sit right in the hull. Ended up settling with the 1 1/4 wads with better patterns

Is there any worry about cross contamination of lead when using the AA shells?
@saltcreekammo26 күн бұрын
@@OG_Nightfox no that's not a thing.

@ okay. I have a lot of old compression formed hulls that have been shot and reloaded a few times for trap with lead dating back into the early 90s. Just wondering if those needed to be cleaned with lead off or something before throwing non toxic load into it

Do you have a good “poor man’s #4-5 shot steel load” using AA hulls and longshot powder similar to this load?

@@brown765 I don't... Would be an interesting project though.

Would the roll crimp at the end be needed? I would think that would slightly increase pressure? Just asking because I don’t have a roll crimp tool. Also what’s the velocity for the 1 3/8oz load in the video? Thanks for this, used your turkey load this year to take a nice turkey it patterned great and did the job
@saltcreekammo9 ай бұрын
The finish crimp isn't needed given your press can produce a shell that'll function in your shotgun properly. This load is 1215 FPS. Both mentioned either in the video or description. Thanks for your business, and watching the video.

Maybe do a comparison of different brands of bismuth for reloading, tin plated, polished, deformed, consistently of shot size, value etc
@saltcreekammo5 ай бұрын
@@clinte9897 I have an idea close to that I'm putting together... Something to the effect of "Does pellet roundness affect patterns?" I'll pattern our 2.5" 1-1/8oz Vintage Waterfowl load with round value bismuth shot from BPI and the worst of the worst I sorted out of the Rotometals (#2 bismuth). The BPI is polished and actually really round for bismuth. Some of the most consistent I've seen.

Have you noticed any issues with fracturing of the value bismuth?
@saltcreekammo9 ай бұрын
I don't have much experience with it. I've been mostly loading the Rotometals stuff, which has done me well this far. I hardly get any fractures with it, especially keeping speeds between 1200-1300 FPS.
