Emma is wonderful, that's true. Her patient ratio is 1 nurse to one patient at a time? Try one human nurse to 12 or more human patients at a time. Which nurse has less time & more responsibilities, more lives in her hands? or 3-6 lives who are in I.C.U.? ALL NURSES are teachers BUT when can they stop & give the tender caring they want to.give to the families?? Same for E.R. staff?

Just in case anyone didn't know, FIV (Feline AIDS) isn't necessarily a death sentence. Feline leukemia is very serious, but cats with FIV can live long, happy lives if properly cared for. It is contagious, but is usually spread through deep bite wounds, so neutered, friendly cat households should be fine or they can also do well as single cats or with other FIV+ cats. I had a FIV+ cat that lived to be 15 years old before she passed from complications from age.
@AbbieH54 жыл бұрын
I can't speak to how well it's diagnosed now, but when I was a teenager (late 90's) we took in my future stepdad's cat who'd been diagnosed with FIV. The kitty had also lived with another cat with FIV, and his diagnoses of FIV is why my stepdad adopted him in the first place, because he already had that cat with FIV. Fast forward a bit and this kitty lived with my cat, and eventually several other kitties too, who were FIV negative, but we knew how it was transmitted. So we weren't overly concerned. At some point, years later the kitty's vet decided to run her own test for FIV......and it was negative. This is like a decade after the original diagnoses. Also the other FIV kitty, who was likely positive for it, lived almost 20 years. It's absolutely not a death sentence and I hope all prospective kitty owners know that.

My boy was 7 he passed a few weeks ago, unfortunately he never showed any symptoms at all he was playing one day and the next he was at the vet he wouldn’t survive a transfusion. Point is get them checked even if they aren’t sick, it was in his bone marrow dormant until it wasn’t.
@benjaminshiffman87343 жыл бұрын
For those who aren’t aware FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) is spread through bite wounds, so intact male cats are many times infected (mostly in the wild) and FeLV (feline leukemia virus) is spread mainly through saliva (LV = LoVe) grooming, shared water, etc. (it can also be spread through breast milk from the mother)

They claim it’s graphic but honestly the videos I’ve watched of even some of the more graphic surgeries still weren’t bad at all. Very disappointing especially for an aspiring vet who finds it fascinating. Also I think it’s the add people who are deciding that animal surgeries are to graphic and don’t want their products to be shown next to a puppy getting cut open. Which is actually quite fair for the general public who doesn’t find that idea thought good in any sense. I guess they just don’t keep in mind that it’s for the animals own good.

Just wondering: what about the nystagmus you can clearly see at 16:42 on the cat who had her (other) eye removed?

There was no other eye, it never was one. Was a congenital defect. The socket kept getting muck in it & got infected. So, he sewed it shut & no mor grief ! Easy peasy & way better for the Kitty.
