She communicates totally different than the average human because of her not being able to speak words. But the communication she does is her normal, & I completely understand it. Some may think what she does is minor & no big deal. But for me, that’s a huge accomplishment for her considering a lot of it she taught herself so she’s able to let you know what she needs/wants. She knows a couple words. Even though doctors swore she would never speak. But the words aren’t clear. It’s been a really slow progress. But that’s okay. I know she will continue to pick up more. & even if she doesn’t, I’m still a proud momma regardless for what she has accomplished so far! & it’s been amazing to watch her!

Advice for the girl asking about things moving quickly on their first date: Be cautious. This is a narcissistic tactic that people unconsciously play out. In the very beginning they are extremely charismatic, it feels very natural and they are magnetic. Narcissists use a practice called love bombing where they make you feel like you are their whole world very early on but this will change over time. Eventually the high that you bring into their life will come down, and eventually the narcissist will start to view you as the problem in their life not their joy. Do some research into narcissistic behaviors and programming. Narcissists literally program you. So just be cautious. That kind of behavior on a first date shows immaturity, mental instability, and is a RED FLAG. I experienced this myself with my last partner of 3 years. Literally what she was saying was my first date with my past partner.

My comment is for CeCe... That's narcissistic behavior and it's very common for narcissists to make you feel like they're your knight in shining armor, they seem a perfect match, they talk about marriage ect. They seem like good people. The fact is narcissists mirror the good traits of the other person involved. Narcissists need someone who is an easy target for them to destroy and all the while you have no idea what's happening. Narcissists need someone for their own purpose and you'll be used, manipulated, and your spirit could possibly most likely be broken. CECE proceed with caution on all levels, I know from experience my ex husband was just like that "good guy" and at the end of it he threw me away like garbage. Narcissists 100% hate boundaries so if you set some boundaries with this guy and he gets upset or extremely angry just know your dealing with a piece of shit narcissist.

This! My narcissistic extremely physically abusive ex did this when we first started dating. I was 18 and just graduated high school when we started dating. I had confided in him that I was being abused by my family, and he started to act like my knight in shining armor. There were a lot of signs I didn't see while dating him, like us walking into a jewelry store while walking around the mall and him automatically going to the wedding rings in the first couple weeks of our dating. About a year into dating him, I finally couldn't take the abuse at home by my family so he said hay move in with me we have been dating a while and it would be cheaper rent for the both of us. A couple months after living together I became pregnant even though I was not ready for a baby and I was on birth control. I had gotten pregnant far before I wanted to because he had tampered with my birth control. After finding out I was pregnant he asked me to marry him and I agreed. Then he told me that we had to move to a different state because he was offered a job making more money there so we moved and I was cut off from everyone I knew. We were married in that new state and I had the baby and then he completely dropped his façade and became very physically and mentally abusive.

I'm so sick of the autism trend lately. Not everyone is autistic just because they're introverts, intuitive and have anxiety. It's madness at this point. None of the ppl on this podcast truly have autism. -Shane is an INFJ empath. The ANTITHESIS of autism is empathy. -Jared is simply an ENTP personality that loves exploring ideas. He still has normal level of empathy and understands social cues. -Chris is very emotionally sensitive/empath. -Ryland is VERY aware of what is socially acceptable/unacceptable. That's why he's always on Shane's butt about watching what he says.

I'm a late diagnosed autistic woman, and I generally don't comment when I think people are autistic too because idk how they'd feel - but I see it, especially in Shane. It seems like there's a lot of sensory issues there (that's how I got diagnosed). I always thought I had severe anxiety, but I was just constantly overwhelmed by sensory input I didn't realize was affecting me so much. Bad smells, bright overhead lights, mouth sounds (coughing, people talking with a dry mouth), prolonged skin to skin contact, you get the idea. Autistic people don't always have issues picking up on the emotional states of others. A lot of people with autism are actually HYPER empathetic - they just don't show it in the same way. There's a theory about this called the Double Empathy Problem. Also, Ryland made a comment about people claiming to have all sorts of things online without a proper diagnosis, and I see where he's coming from, but it's a little different with autism. It's still seen by many doctors as something that would appear in childhood, but so many of us fall through the cracks, especially women, LGBTQ, and people of color. Once you're an adult and hit burnout, you can lose the ability to mask your autistic traits, and it's really hard to get a diagnosis. Most people are misdiagnosed with things like bipolar, BPD, anxiety, depression, etc. Many of those can be comorbid, but treatment is often different for autists. Access to a diagnosis is the biggest struggle of all - it's insanely expensive (specifically for adults) and there are long waiting lists. Most of the autistic community validates self diagnosis 💜

I think Ryland was talking about tik tok people will claim they have something just because they do one thing like i saw a bunch of tik toks saying if you sit criss cross on a chair then you have autism. those little things lead to self diagnosing and takes away the seriousness of it all. so i think just being careful what is being put out there and what you’re relying on for information is vital.

thank you so much for explaining this!!!! i’m a lesbian woman and im almost positive im on the spectrum, and i don’t have a diagnosis for all the reasons you explained. it breaks my heart to hear people say that people on the spectrum don’t have empathy because i’m hyper-empathetic, like you explained, and it can be so overwhelming. once they began to move on from talking about autism i had literally all of what you said in my head so i went to check the comments, hoping that someone had already put it into words, and you so beautifully have, so thank you again ❤ im literally in tears writing this because it’s the hardest thing to have to explain all the time, so having someone else put it all into words is just wow!

Yes! There’s great books about diagnosing autism in adults. I have so many sensory issues too, learning disabilities and massive social anxiety. This topic should be discussed more frequently, such little awareness on late diagnosis

My husband and I are both on the spectrum, and we both appreciate the discussion!! Interestingly, I was diagnosed with ASD earlier in life, but my husband was diagnosed just this last year. He definitely has the hyper-focus, which has really benefited him in a lot of ways at his work. I'm a teacher, and I never thought I could achieve that goal. Thanks for taking time to discuss!

I seriously want to thank Ryland for what he said about not trying to diagnose himself with anything. I've actually been diagnosed (by doctors) with Autism, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and a few other psychiatric disorders. Borderline is apparently the new trendy thing for people to diagnose themselves with and it's seriously offensive because they're essentially belittling the struggle of people who actually suffer from it, like myself. It's hurtful too. Mental illness isn't something that should be trendy. There's serious danger in convincing yourself you have a mental illness because sometimes your brain may cause you to start exhibiting traits of that mental illness. It's like creating a whole new serious problem in your life that didn't need to be there, you put it there. It's so incredibly dangerous for someone to do this to themselves.

CiCi!! Beware! I dated online for a while, and the one guy that wanted me to marry him on our first date is now in jail for kidnapping a woman, stealing her jewelry and taking her across state lines. Another guy wanted me to be his girlfriend and we had not met, and I’m not ugly but this guy looked like a supermodel so I did a background check and he had a record for domestic violence. That’s why he was so desperate to have someone.

Paris does a long segment in her documentary that explains why her voice does that. She's very open about it since talking about her abuse. It's basically due to trauma. She's been actively unmasking her real voice lately as much as possible. But I'm sure she sometimes slips back into the falsetto when she has to be "Paris "

Shane I actually just discovered misophonia.. my whole life I felt anger toward certain noises and not knowing why. I can relate to you on that level. When I tell people about it they try to dismiss it and say I don’t. Since A kid noises like windows being down or people clearing their throat bothered me so bad.
