The way he put it was Born to Run was about running away from problems. Darkness... was about acknowledging fate and responsibilities as an adult. Anyway, it’s a youth thing. 🙃

There's a Pop Punk hatred of suburbia and how it's so "boring" and holding them back etc. but really the ultimate deliverance from problems of feeling closed in/restricted/unappreciated can only be found inside the individual person. Satisfaction and acceptance can't really be found anywhere unless you have it in yourself first. But the Pop Punk feelings are still genuine - I just think they're a bit misguided but heck, most people on planet Earth are misguided in one way or another. Everyone's searching for the answer.

I too held the idea of leaving the shit town I grew up in as a teen from 2013-19 in the farmlands of eastern Australia, because at that age everyone just wants to be an adult already. But by the time you’re in your early/mid 20s you wish you were a teenager again. Pop punk makes me feel like I’m in the 2000s again and I’m a teenager as well. I don’t know what I would do without pop punk.
