I remember Alexi saying years ago in a Finnish interview that after you have played guitar for ten years and within that time learned all theory and techniques there is from black metal to bossanova, that's the point you can start calling yourself a guitarist. No matter how hard that sounds, he lived up to his words. There are clips in KZbin where he plays Jazz (Stray Cat Strut), classical (Vivaldi) and jams with the top blues guitarists.

Alexi was ON POINT with the vocals though...was on-pitch with every note using a mixed scream vocal technique (which is far more advanced and difficult than your average scream or growl). Alexi had quite a unique and advanced vocal style for primarily being known as a guitarist/songwriter

Children of Bodom was a Finnish melodic death metal band from Espoo. Formed in 1993 as Inearthed. The band was required to create a new name to sign up to Spinefarm Records. The contract with Shiver records had already been signed under the name of Inearthed. The answer to that problem came as the members looked for good names in their local phone book. When they stumbled upon Lake Bodom, they realized that it was a name with impact and one which had an interesting story behind it. A long list of possible names involving the word Bodom was then made, and they settled with Children of Bodom. The band's name is derived from the Lake Bodom murders. The Lake Bodom murders is one of the most infamous unsolved homicide cases in Finnish criminal history. On 5 June 1960, at Bodom Lake in Espoo, Uusimaa, Maila Björklund and Anja Mäki (both 15) and Seppo Boisman (18) were killed by stabbing and blunt-force trauma to their heads while sleeping inside a tent. The fourth youth, Nils Gustafsson, then aged 18, was found outside the tent with broken facial bones and stab wounds. Despite extensive investigations, the perpetrator was never identified and various theories on the killer's identity have been presented over the years. Gustafsson was unexpectedly arrested on suspicion of committing the murders in 2004, but he was found not guilty the following year.

Nice reaction, i love Children of Bodom, i also love how you interact with your bird. :D I had budgies when i was young and they acted just like your bird. Bodom was really good live but i don't like live videos because of poor quality. I've seen them many times live because i'm Finnish. First time i saw them live was in city of Jyväskylä in -97 or 98. They were promoting their first album. Last time i saw them was in 2017 John Smith festival at Laukaa Finland. Alexi was in bad shape but he and other guys gave great show. :D

Downfall's a classic, Hatebreeder was probably my favorite album of theirs, it had a lot of neoclassical ideas going on in the music. The Stockholm Knockout DVD had an interesting version of Downfall, they expanded the intro and threw in a medley of riffs from different bands. I never got to see them live, but I remember seeing a clip years ago of them doing part of Rihanna's Umbrella, that sounded pretty good too.
@Nate-r2m3 ай бұрын
Thats one of many covers they did for fun (they have a cover album). There's many more they never released but did play some live on occasion like Gaga and Rihanna songs. I think there might be a couple KZbin vids uploaded by fans who recorded those shows. Alexi was a huge fan of 80s rock and modern pop/rap music.

I randomly got my hands on Follow the Reaper tape (yes, tape!) during highschool somewhere in 2001 or 2002 and was a fan of them (and melodeath as a whole) ever since. Many metalheads don't like keyboards and such but for me they kinda also opened the door to electronic music and I started listening to basically any genre (except country, because come on :D). Children Of Bodom is one of the few bands with a growling singer I listen to. Dark Tranquillity is the other one. Grew-up on the usual suspects, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd. Later Iron Maiden, Metallica, Manowar, Judas Priest. Have a great life chickadee and spare no mercy towards thyne neighbours. Except when they have children or kittens. Be gentle to them.

I really think you, as a singer, should see the work of Julie Christmas and Lingua Ignota. Both are surreal singers, by the most creative in "extreme" music, metal or so. For Julie Christmas, you can check a song live (that's were she gives a 100%) from the video "Cult of Luna & Julie Christmas - Mariner - Live at De Kreun" with the timecode 17,25. The song is "The Wreck of S.S. Needle". And two more, if you go by three : "How to Get bigger" with the band Made Out of babies, and "Bones in the Water" with Battle of Mice. Always Julie Christmas singing (and clearly my #1 singer). For Lingua Ignota, go with "Do you doubt me traitor" and that will already be something :D

A cordial greeting to you!!... No one better than you, to analyze this incredible singer who is leaving all the experts, literally with their jaws on the floor (Do you remember Jim Carrey's movie "The Mask"?, well, like that)...In 2017, a 22-year-old singer from Kazakhstan, named Dimash Kudaibergen, was invited to participate in the famous Chinese program for professional singers called "The Singer"... In his first appearance, Dimash covered one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse"...Since then all this madness began on the internet, KZbin and social networks worldwide and he is already considered the best singer on the entire planet... It is almost impossible to see a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges of 8 octaves, that is, the 88 keys of a digital piano... You can see in KZbin to all kinds of experts (Vocal coaches, analysts, singing teachers, singers, youtubers, reactors, etc.), who have dedicated themselves to watching his videos and verifying for themselves that what is said about him is completely true... In all his concerts worldwide, tickets are sold in just seconds, via the internet, due to the immense popularity he has worldwide... Anyway, I think you haven't met this impressive singer yet, so here is the link to the first song that Dimash performed in China in that year 2017, the song S.O.S., and if it doesn't bother you, I would like you to mention me as the person who recommended it to you...Warning: You have to be prepared for thousands of views, comments and new subscribers...The video It is more recent, so it does not have the millions of views that the first ones, but it is more complete, including an intro, subtitles in several languages and better audio and sound quality...www.youtube.com /watch?v=bDX3FhmyNac
