I was flabbergasted to discover that it was Mike Posner, and then the line made much more sense as a direct reference to "Cooler Than Me". Another example of how context can shape how something is interpreted.

Mike Posner actually seems like kind of a cool guy, he at least has enough self awareness to understand the Irony that his sad song about how he's washed up as a singer and only really known for one song brought him back right into the limelight. He even wrote a little blog about it. I dunno, I found it interesting and this IS a really sad song. Especially the opening. I met Mike Posner when "I Took a Pill in Ibiza" came out and he said he doesn't watch how successful he is anymore. The song had like 200 million listens at the time. He said that he wasn't successful until DJ's remixed his songs, and that should be a lesson in how the music industry works. Basically, if it's a good idea then collaborate. I know this is a coincidence but it is a weird one Seeb, which is the name of the Norwegian due who created the dance remix that popularized this song, is also the name of a district in Muscat, Oman. Avicii died of suicide in Muscat, in a resort that is a couple of minutes away from Seeb. This song is sad and the loss of Avicii is extremely sad and this coincidence would make me more sad every time I hear this remix.
