Thanks so much for this, Duncan. I am a proud owner of a copy of the 'Brava, Strega Nona!' pop-up book signed by author/illustrator Tomie dePaola, and the arch pop-up you referenced here is possibly my most favorite pop-up in the world, so I really treasure that book. So wonderful to see you explain the arch construction here!

Hola! Eres un maestro genial! Si en algún momento me lee, le quiero preguntar si con el mismo mecanismo se mantiene en pie un formato más grande.
@thepop-upchannel49192 ай бұрын
No he experimentado mucho con este mecanismo. ¡Es un poco difícil! Creo que trabajar con piezas más grandes debería ser suficiente; asegúrate de que la tarjeta con la que trabajes sea lo suficientemente resistente.

Hi Duncan, Thank you so much for the videos! They're so educational! Wondering if you might consider touching on the steps of how to publish a pop up book. Thank you very much!!!!! Your instructions are great!
@thepop-upchannel49193 жыл бұрын
Difficult! Getting any book published is pretty difficult especially if you haven't been published before - getting a pop-up book published is possibly even more tricky as the whole manufacturing process is involved. I should think your best bet is to try approaching publishers with an outline of your book plus a dummy spread to show what your 3D work is like. Initially approach publisherrs who produce pop-up books in a style similar to yours. I hope this is some help.

Hi Duncan! I was wondering if you would ever consider doing a paid one on one trouble shooting workshop over zoom? I am trying to add a bit more complexity to my pop ups but can’t seem to get a handle on things past the basics.
@thepop-upchannel49193 жыл бұрын
Not sure about a workshop over zoom - but you can email me more detailed questions /problems, and I'll see if I can answer them. If there's a specific difficulty with a design you might include a photo. To get moving beyond the basics you could try working through one of the Playlists - make the mechanisms that are explained in the videos, it's the best way to really get a feel for them.

I don't understand how to calculate for the asymmetric parallel fold bars. How do you determine how long the two bars should be?
@thepop-upchannel49193 жыл бұрын
Asymmetric Parallel Folds are explained in Tutorial 6. In this case for the first bar - the length from the spine to the point where the side wall is glued to the base (length A) + the height up the side wall at which the bar is glued (length B) = the distance from the spine to where the bar is glued to the base (length C) + the length of the Bar (length D). i.e. if A = 6. B = 2, C= 1, D = 7.

Loving your videos! Have you considered using "plastic" or synthetic paper instead of card stock since plastic is more durable than card stock?
@thepop-upchannel49193 жыл бұрын
I think regular card is more environmentally friendly.
@whitewave163 жыл бұрын
@@thepop-upchannel4919 True, but card stock/paper deteriorates with time and would be a shame for these works of art to crumple to ash in a few hundred years or so... Perhaps in the future we can figure out how to preserve paper/card stock.
