Yep. That really is the biggest issue facing our world today. There is no clear line between right and wrong these days. No moral compass exists anymore. Everything is "okay" as long as it isn't directly harming anyone, but no one seems to care about the indirect impact certain actions or ideologies have on people. That's really what is crumbling society as we speak.

I miss them everyday and see why I love them so much bcuz they loved us despite our hardships and brought humor and caring even when life got tough. Popcorn has these same values and is a shame we live in such a mixed world now. That’s true Country folk I grew up in a small town in Florida in the 3rd poorest town it was an agricultural town .And I knew folk like him my family was like him It boils down to how you were raised. A lot of people don’t have much more than there word. And it’s still a bond in some places in America. They may not be book smart but they are Life smart and sometimes that’s all you need! I’ve been around highly educated people and some don’t have a lick of common sense.

I remember sitting in a Alabama meeting with old buddies, and one of them slid a drink across the table (I had quit some years ago), but not to offend I took a sip and slid the drink back. He asked me what I thought, and I told him Popcorn sadly had passed a year ago. No mistaking his work, no mistaking it at all! The idea of running 'shine' is dying quickly, right along with a place in the woods that few can find. Yup! Red suspenders and Lil Abner boots are a thing of the past.....

LR Lapua Popcorn Sutton lived his life the way he wanted. I doubt he would have gone out the way he did. A man in his 60s looking at spending the next 30yrs in prison thinks different, If you was going away to prison for the rest of your life would you think about it. I can't say that would be my first choice but where the heck you gonna go when you're old.

@@resilient4637 May want to get your facts straight before you try to make a point, Popcorn wasnt facing "30yrs in prison" he was convicted and sentenced to 18 months in prison.

I still stand by my word. There's been times when I've almost made excuses to get outta things I've said I'd do but I always try my best to do what I said I would. It's easy to promise something a week down the road and when the time comes it's easy to be lazy or not in the mood etc

He more or less told it like it is. I was not born until 1950 and I knew very few people who's word was worth a dang. I have a few good friends that when they tell you something you can carry it to the bank but for the most part Popcorn was right when he said he could carry most of the honest folks in a vw and it wouldn't be crowded. I never heard of Popcorn until a few days ago but I've known men like him all over this country. None of them were saints!
