During "covid" my parents in law were left alone in the hospital they had cancer. All my mother in law would have loved was some tv. But for some mysterious reason due to covid they turned off tvs for patients, or to walk down the hall, but it wasnt allowed again for some mysterious reason and get tim hortans but again they closed it to patients and only nurses fould privately purchase tim hortans for herself. She had loved going to tim hortans it was her daily task as a person who survived cancer . ..I know jon candy would have agreed that she could have had a life in that hospital before she died but it was taken from her her chance to do one last thing to make her feel alive . And that feeling can cure all ailments

You know he’s a good guy straight from the beginning bc he literally drops everything and heads over at 2am to help his brother, who he obviously isn’t close with. Uncle Buck is awesome 🩷🩷
@MrStath1986Ай бұрын
Honestly his brother's wife needed to pull the stick out of her ass - there's one bit where she criticises Chanice because 'she sells tires for a living'. Like what the hell?
@wallacewallaby5782Ай бұрын
Him and his brother seem friendly enough, and we know they still exchange Christmas gifts (the clapper), I think the main issue is with the wife who seems pretty classist and has probably put a wedge between the brothers keeping them apart more than they would otherwise be. Buck seems aware that she doesn't like him which is why he wanted to make sure that she was okay with him looking after the kids before he left, even though he was looking for a legit excuse to not start work the next day. He's a really caring guy though who cared a lot for those kids, even the one who went out of her way to ruin his life.
@Ishai1Ай бұрын
His brother says he's responsible, so he obviously trusts him, it's the wife who thinks poorly of him and his girlfriend who sells tires, because that's beneath them. Explains why the daughter was like that as well and the mom at the end gives a hint that maybe her experience with her dad made her realize some things as well.

Around 1991 I worked at a grocery store in Sharon (Ontario) as a teenager. John Candy apparently grew up there and kept a summer home outside of town. One day Mr Candy came in to the store and did some shopping. Everybody was whispering "that's John Candy" etc, but nobody said anything to him. After checking out, he was leaving the store when I decided to run out after him and ask for his autograph, which he was kind enough to give to me. Frankly he looked almost relieved that somebody noticed him. Unfortunately I gave away the autograph to a girl who "wanted to show her mother" and never saw it again, but I never forgot that surprised look of relief on his face when I asked him for a minute of his time.

That end freeze when John Candy waves and smiles always makes me tear up. Such a talented man with such a tormented soul. He's truly missed! Also, Shanice is played by Amy Madigan. She did play Kevin Costner's wife in "Field of Dreams" and she's married to actor Ed Harris in real life.
@elessartelcontar9415Ай бұрын
Ed Harris is a great man and husband. Hollywood wanted him to do salacious roles and he would not do them because he felt it would dishonor his marital vows. Hollywood quit offering him roles after that and he is fine with that. He played John Glenn in The Right Stuff who would not tell his wife to meet on camera with President Johnson because she had agoraphobia. Johnson ordered his staff to tell John Glenn to 'order' his wife to meet with Johnson and he refused. It could have lost his astronaut status but he cared way more about his wife. Who knew he played character roles? Great man.

The closet full of junk that comes crashing down is a trope that is _older than television._ It originates with a radio comedy called _Fibber McGee & Molly,_ which had a running gag that Fibber would need to grab one thing before he left, and it was always in the closet, which would always lead to a cascade of sound effects as everything inside crashed down on him.

John Hughes was such a LEGENDARY producer and WRITER. His creativity is something that can never be duplicated. His storytelling in ALL of his movies are a lost art in movies today and it's such a tragedy. No originality, creativity, and most importantly, no nostalgia. 80's and 90's were truly a special time in movies that can never be duplicated.

The actress who played Marcy is Laurie Metcalf who played Jackie in the comedy show Roseanne, and Sheldon's mother in The Big Bang Theory. Her real-life daughter plays Sheldon's mother in Young Sheldon. She looks JUST like her mother

One of my all time favorite comedies. "Buck Melanoma! Moley Russell's wart." 😂😂 I really miss John Candy. He was one of a kind.

Seriously??? That's awesome. My dad passed in 2012. Hardest I ever saw him laugh was John running from Bart the Bear 😂😂😂

People around my age (50), often lament getting older. I always give one simple reply: I NEVER want to imagine a childhood without John Candy movies
