In my opinion, it would've been really cool if Finn started off as a deserted Stormtrooper who had no choice but to kill his fellow Stormtroopers in order to escape the First Order. but then he looks back and feels guilty about it. Then he becomes a Jedi over the course of the film's, and now he wants to help his brother's and sisters in arms to turn away from the First Order ( TLJ clearly hinted it in one deleted scene ) and eventually became a founder of the Stormtrooper Rebellion. Instead, the writers decided to make him into a joke and his story went nowhere. Such a waste.

18:07 Rey's father is actually a non-identical clone of Darth Sidious. Despite that, he wasn't strong with the Force like his "father," the Emperor. Sidious was disgusted that anything so ordinary could be made from his blood; he even referred to his "son" as a useless creature that he rejected. He only allowed his "son" to live out of hope that it would sire a child that was born Force-sensitive via the Palpatine bloodline. 30:17 The Knights of Ren are Force-sensitive and they basically worship the dark side of the Force. The two worst big budget entertainment products of the last decade were GoT season 8 and Disney SW trilogy. With GoT it went wrong because the showrunners wanted to quit, so they massively rushed the ending. Still very strange that HBO didn't just replace them. But Disney takes the cake with how unbelievable it is how they approached the SW sequel trilogy. They had spent billions of dollars on the rights to the franchise and then they allowed a trilogy to be created, at the cost of another billion dollars, without any complete story for the whole trilogy written in advance. They just let two different directors do whatever they wanted with each individual film.

So, Rian delivered an amazing story that took Star Wars to new heights, but again the fans complained about how it treated Luke or for some dumb reason all 3 stars werent in the falcon together. So, Disney panicked and went back to JJ and tried to shoehorn something together in the middle resulting in an uneven story. Disney failed by not sticking to their guns and letting Rian finish the story to payoff what he set up. It's cool to see your cinematic journey with Star Wars reach the end point (for now until they start making new ones lol), though the Star Wars journey is fortunately far from over! As you mentioned, they started going into the TV/streaming world recently and personally, I think you will love love LOVE the Mandalorian. Don't want to give too much away but knowing you specifically and your personality, you're going to really enjoy that show. My only piece of advice is that during the first couple episodes, it might come off as like, "Oh this is okay." But by the third episode, I guarantee that you will be hooked, so just maybe keep that in mind when starting the show, not that the first two episodes are bad, they're very enjoyable, but they're kinda set up for the show's premise, but once that premise is established, I know you will be all in lol. What Disney has done here is a huge disaster for the Star Wars universe! As a real fan episodes 7-9 simply make me incredibly sad and stunned. Disney completely rewrote the finale of Star Wars (Skywalker Saga) and completely destroyed it! All they had to do was to use the fantastic "Thrawn Saga" with characters like Mara Jade (Luke Skywalker's wife) etc. as well as the 3 sequel novels to create Eps. 7-9 . Exactly as George Lucas always intended and everything would have been excellent! But no! Disney wrote own crap with its own characters that no one would have needed and screws everything up. Please don't get me wrong, I really love the Disney series (Mandalorian, Obi-Wan, etc.) but they totally screwed it up with Eps. 7-9. Sorry, but that's my opinion on it. P.s.: I am fully aware that the original Actors from Eps. 4 - 6 were actually too old to realize that, but with today's possibilities it would definitely be doable. I would have even been also absolutly okay with replacing the actors adequately if needed. May the force be with you.

There was so much good in the sequels, but they also had some of the worst parts, execution, and pacing from any Star Wars properties. Rey can heal and is overpowered because she draws power from the dark side, as well as from the light. There's a KZbinr who made a video just before episode 8 came out that theorized that Rey was a Palpatine and he based it on her fighting style with a Lightsaber from episode VII and also from her theme being eerily similar in structure to Darth Sidious' After episode VIII came out, it seemed like he was wrong. But eventually he was proven correct by this movie.
@sarg778returnscodm72 жыл бұрын
Remember though, there were other Force users who had a similar approach. Mace Windu was a light side user who often drew from the dark side as part of his fighting, as can be compared to Rey's "grayness" in the force.
@mike-mz6yz2 жыл бұрын
@@sarg778returnscodm7 I could be wrong but I thought Mace didnt really draw on the dark side but rather redirected his opponents dark side energy back at them. I really wish they would have made Rey a grey Jedi. When I saw the trailer for 8 I got so excited. I thought Luke was going to show her that the Jedi are wrong to focus solely on the light and the correct path was finding balance in oneself. Since the original Jedi balanced light and dark and he went looking for the first Jedi temple I assumed this is the answer he was going to find. I think if they would have done that then the sequels would have been great, without taking away from the other 6 movies. Breaking the cycle we saw in the first 6 movies. Instead Luke is a coward who tries to kill his nephew and Rey changes her name to Skywalker lol
@stefankrautz90482 жыл бұрын
Rey can do everything from the start without effort or character buildup because this was one of many "woke" movies to come. Movies were suppost to show "strong" women, competing with men. Another worse example is Terminator dark fate or the remake of Charlies Angels.
@willpina2 жыл бұрын
@@stefankrautz9048 the only problem with your statement is that you're projecting your own misogynistic insecurities on the movie. They never made a point of even insinuating that Rey being female had anything to do with the reason why she was good. If you want to critique Rey being a Mary Sue without merit, that's fine. But if your point is that "woman MC means woke agenda" then you are just showing what a snowflake you are. And pretty much the same can be said about Luke on the original trilogy. Nobody has a problem with that, myself included. But unlike Luke, who was a pampered farm boy, Rey was on her own already living a tough life. It makes sense that she was physically and mentally tougher than Luke at the same point of their respective lives. BTW, I'm no fan of the sequel trilogy, it has good moments, but the bad pacing, disjointed story and wasted potential of good support characters outweighs whatever they got right with the movies.

Ignoring fanboys and "woulda coulda" opinions, I think the main gripe people have boils down to consistency in tone and storytelling. The tone of movies shift wildly from movie to movie and there are apparent dips in quality in the scriptwriting and storytelling. A great example of quality and consistency is LOTR and the Mandalorian. Granted, hindsight being what it is, Lucas didn't have the luxury to film all his movies in a row or concurrently, so unfortunate changes in quality between movies was inevitable based on director availability and just how things were done back in the day and with large gaps between films. But it seems progress is being made with finding quality directors again (Favraeu).

@@CarbonPixel78 Yeah, for a company with their legacy and history of success, the two biggest errors they made that can't ever be forgiven are (1) not having any kind of plan for the trilogy in the first place and (2) trying to course correct -- twice -- as a consequence of (1). It's like those drivers you see in Honda Civics who miss their exit, so they try to go off-roading rather than being patient and taking the next exit. But in Disney's case, they made it worse by driving 70 yards before second-guessing their choice and trying to get back on the highway after the point of no return. It's like, "After the first rumble in the dirt, *_why_* did you think the second one was going to be a good idea?" When all the TROS dumpster fire rumors poured out before the release of the movie, I just had to laugh. At some point, it's just too comical to not enjoy the blaze.
