You catch an astonishing amount of detail. You’re right, if Qui Gon hadn’t died, he would have been able to train anakin correctly. He defies the council at times because the Jedi are prideful and wrong on certain things. Anakin is complex and emotional and powerful and he needs balance. He is the manifestation of balance in the force. Teaching him purely the dogmatic Jedi view was wrong.
@maxlawton26803 жыл бұрын
Yes and Obi Wan then trains him out of a promise to Qui Gon but not out of belief in the boy, Obi Wan can only become a brother to Anakin but not the father that Qui Gon was supposed to have been
@4everhealthwellness3442 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Gui Gon would have been the father figure and the Master Anakin needed, and I agree the Jedi had strayed from what they should have been, many people say the Jedi and the Republic itself had become corrupt and apathetic in a way. The Jedi council was far too involved in politics instead of adhering to the will of the Force, which Qui Gon talks about. It was the fault of the Jedi in many ways that lead to the fall of Anakin
@gibbs6152 жыл бұрын
That's all very right on! Qui-Gon was the one who was meant to be Anakin's rightful master and he was like the father he never had.
@LoganBluth2 жыл бұрын
I don't know, I feel like Qui-Gon might have messed Anakin up even worse. Being told since you were 9 years old that you were The Chosen One who was destined to bring balance to the Force is a MASSIVE amount of pressure to put on a kid. Not to mention it would play into Anakin's inherent arrogance and colossal ego that he demonstrates in Episodes II and III, making him even MORE likely to think he was infallible and knew better than everyone else.
@gibbs6152 жыл бұрын
@@4everhealthwellness344 You're right about all that! Qui-Gon was definitely the only one for Anakin and the old Jedi order was really losing their way being connected to the politics of the republic which was corrupting them slowly and they really should've been following Qui-Gon's example of just following the will of the force.

I mean it always made sense to me, its world-building. The rebel ships are all dirty and clunky, they've obviously been fixed up and repaired many times over, which makes sense because the rebels have limited resources, they have to make do with what they have. They use their ships a lot and can't afford to throw anything away. Naboo on the other hand is a small but wealthy independent "country". 28:17 I believe it’s a power station. If you’re curious, Darth Maul uses an extremely aggressive fighting style called Juyo that is immensely physically demanding. It’s fast and vicious, easily overwhelming even the staunchest defenses, but leaves the user occasionally vulnerable. Without Maul’s rigid warrior training, he’d be at serious risk of cutting himself with his own attacks. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan both use Ataru, an acrobatic and similarly aggressive fighting style that trades impressive agility and offense for practically zero defense or stamina. Qui-Gon is quite impressive to have as long and well as he did given his chosen discipline. It was his master’s death at Maul’s hands that convinced Obi-Wan to switch to the more defensive and stamina efficient Soresu style.

The first two movies (A New Hope & Empire Strikes Back) worked so well and apealled to both adults and children. You don't need to work so hard to get children to buy in. You have heroes overcoming the odds and defeating the villains add in something magical or romantic and they are on board. You create cringeworthy characters like Jar Jar, alien dialogue like "poodoo", and a farting creature at the pod race ... well you're trying too hard and not giving children enough credit.

The prequels are not as horrible as some, including myself, has said over the years. Honestly, when the prequels first came out I loved them because it was Star Wars and I was a kid. Every once in a while I'll revisit something and I'm reminded how much I would overlooked, forgave, or accepted because I was kid. I was more naive, open, and enthusiastic then. Less critical, cynical, and jaded. My taste, knowledge, and perspective has changed and even improved over the years but I'm an adult now and not a kid anymore. And when I watch something like the prequels I'm reminded of that and that part me misses that feeling. Cassie reminds that one is usually better off having a more optimistic, open, and enthusiastic attitude. She's an adult that can still show the positive outlook and hopeful qualities that I used to have more of. And I think that's something to be appreciated and why I'll keep coming back to this channel.

The sequels really made you appreciate the prequels
@stevencolatrella32573 жыл бұрын
Sp here is why I disagree: Cassie's ambivalence about whether to root for Anakin is the whole ballgame- there is no protagonist in the prequels. You can't identify with the most terrible villain in movie history. And we don't get any real chance to have a feel for the personality of the rest of the cast who are generic and underdeveloped. There is almost nothing interesting, or profoundly moving in these movies, no hero, the only love story is one we don't want or care about. Making the prequels about Darth Vader was a disastrous choice, as if prequels to the LOTR were about Sauron from his childhood.

Cassie is a treasure with her sense of wonder and capacity for joy that too many adults lose for some reason.

Ps, miticlorans are worse than anything in the sequels. In one tell swoop, the Force goes from being spiritual power that all living beings feel, are connected with and through, and generate, to a form of aristocratic exclusiveness. Star Wars ceased to have any spiritual meaning at that point, not something that could give meaning to our lives, our sense of brother and sisterhood to other beings and nature, but a genetic superpower for a select few. These movies are culturally disastrous.

"What is a Sith?" The Sith are the order that the Jedi oppose. The Jedi are the champions of the Light Side, and the Sith are the champions of the Dark Side. Sith nearly always hold the title "Darth" as well. At one point in the Star Wars history, there were LEGIONS of Sith opposing the Jedi. But when they started to form a united front, one of their own became concerned that they had strayed from what the Dark Side is supposed to represent: competition and survival of the fittest. His name was Darth Bane, and he set about manipulating events so that the Sith would be destroyed until he was the only one left. And then, he passed on his knowledge to a SINGLE apprentice, and started a new tradition in the Sith order known as the Rule Of Two: "Two there shall be, no more, no less. One Master, and one Apprentice. One to embody power, the other to crave it." Darth Bane existed about 1,000 years before Episode 1, but the Sith and the Jedi have been enemies for MANY millennia before that.

Qui Gon Jinn was really Anakin's best chance at not turning to the dark side. Qui Gon really was faithful to the force and doing what was right. He didn't care about the counsel and believed in the prophecy. And bringing balance can be interpreted many ways. You can think that when Vadar kills the Emperor that he "brought balance" again...or that having Luke become a Jedi but he deals with both Light and Dark side abilities and Leia's children do the same...so you can say they are more "balanced" force users.

What you said about how maybe Anakin would have turned out differently if Qui Gon had lived to train him is spot on. That final lightsaber duel is called “The Duel of the Fates” (also the name of the song playing during the fight). It’s a fight for the fate of Anakin Skywalker though nobody involved in the fight realizes this. Had Qui Gon lived and trained Anakin he would have learned to control his power in a healthy way. Obi Wan was always more of a brother to Anakin rather than a father figure. A son looks up to and tries to emulate his father. He’ll fight with his brother.
@A7xFo Жыл бұрын
Anakin NEEDED to become Vader. QuiGon knew he would become a sith which allowed him to end Palpatine. Had things played out the way fans think it should have, the Sith would have won. Anakin brought balance to the force by becoming Vader and killing Palpatine. The prophecy wouldn't have come true with Anakin staying a jedi.

Fun fact is that the Queen's handmaiden is none other than a very, very young Keira Knightley years before she became famous for Pirates of the Carabean. And yes, you heard Chewbacca in the Senate. If you watch that scene closely there's one of those pod thingies in the Senate filled with E.T.'s as a tribute to George's friend Steven Spielberg.

The main character/creature designer was Terryl Witlatch, who is very good at combining animals you wouldn’t think would work. Like why can’t there be a tapir-snouted potbellied blue guy who hovers like a hummingbird? Or bipedal horse-ostriches? Or little green chicken-frog-kiwi things?

Why if so independent some members were not aloud to break away entirely such as the separatist? Why make a galactic army if so many member states did have their own militaries?
