I feel like you’re focusing way too much on chart positions. Because although Kream peaked at 94 on the hot 100, it’s certified gold and has 98 million streams on Spotify. Songs don’t chart the same anymore. Sally Walker was in the top 5 of US iTunes for 4 days straight and only went to 64. That’s just weird. Back then, that would’ve solidified a top 10 hit. I feel people had a very negative impression of Iggy solely based off of what they heard and thought of her. Much of the controversy wasn’t even started by her, it was started by other people, not all, but most. But the way she responded was what upset people. And she admits that. The slave master lyric was literally a tribute to Kendrick Lamar who had a song with that same lyric in it. Those racist tweets were proven to have been faked. People fail to realize she actually CAN rap and she made history being the first female rapper to occupy the #1, #2 and #3 spots on the hot 100 with Fancy, Problem and Black Widow. Team was a moderate success and sold 600k the year it was released, it was the most successful female rap single in 2016. She recently Released Lola which is suuuch a bop. I heard on the radio here in New York the other day and it has 10 million streams on Spotify. And her recent album IMD, sold 17k first week in the U.S while being Independent with virtually no promo. That’s very impressive. Started and F It Up also have very high viewed music videos, and started did chart elsewhere across the world. People also underestimate her global market appeal, cause homegirl is still huge in Latin America/Brazil and she did a show in I believe Thailand and sold it completely out. I think she definitely can get back to major success, but everything has to be very articulate and planned out accordingly. But, she also doesn’t really care about charts anymore. She’s more so making music for people who will listen, and that’s good enough for her. She’s independent, so every stream, every show, every sale goes straight to her. She’s RICH.

She's a likeable person I think, she' doesn't mean any harm. Around the time Ignorant Art was released I hung out with her in NYC for an evening and she was extremely kind to me and my friend who were fans, and very fun to talk to. I don't agree with the witch hunt that went after her years ago at all. I personally don't even think many people found her as offensive as we think, there are just a lot of loud people on the internet. It's a shame cause she has talent, her videos are unbelievable well done and thought out (not many artists are on the same level in this area as she is, from any genre) and her music is pretty good. She's good at what she does. She's not groundbreaking or legendary but she is fun and has her own unique lane that I think deserves more success and recognition. She works hard. I don't know if she'll ever be able to bounce back, unfortunately, but hopefully she builds up momentum and gets to somewhere she can be satisfied with. If I were her I'd try to stay positive knowing she does have fans out there who recognize what she does and even Missy Elliott respects her, which should mean WAY more than what any grumpy critic says about you and your art.

One Thing I need to say is that Iggy Azalea already Told her Story on Digital Distortion, everything ya'll wanted on InMyDefense was supposed to be on Digital Distortion and I know it hurts Iggy to sit in a studio and try to recreate songs such as "Middle Man" "Elephant" and "Seventeen" these songs where telling Iggy Azaleas Story and it would've changed alot of people's perception of her. I think when an Artist loses music that was going to be their comeback story it's really hard to continue making music that is meaningful.

I love , love , love Iggy and her music because I’ve listened to her 3 latest projects... -Surviving the summer -In my defense -Wicked Lips , they are good projects and so many potential hits but the biggest issue here is that she is “ independent “. Being an independent artist feels good in terms of having more creative freedom , taking most the decisions , etc... but it’s also very limited in terms promotion because a label actually put their money , their millions in risk to promote you , on radio , on adds , on tv performances and so on and it’s turn out really hard for an independent artist to be able to promote themselves dramatically like the labels do , put all that kind of sources ( money) or even dig their place to the music scene and stay. 2. We all know that Iggy is talented , she writes , she rap quite well, she does amazing collabs and all that kind of stuff but the main reason that we can all agree why she would never really be that “ star” it’s because she’s a white woman in hip hop . White men in hip hop are now trying to find a comfort zone in it but as white woman it’s still really hard , because no media or black studios , black people in general would support her , pay her to perform and having T.I as a mentor was good to help her build a career and large audience and but as a black man promoting a white girl doing hip hop ( that they so call sabotaging the hip hop culture) T.I felt embarrassed and starting following the black culture... long story Anyway Iggy is at some point a self sabotage of her career lately , for example she never promote herself on social media , social media which is the most effective way to get viewed on in our days but she doesn’t, she never post few performances she’s offered , she keeps on deleting pictures on her Instagram, she never post anything special about her or music , calling it some stupid reincarnation. So with that being said if Iggy really keep want to make music that also sells good she needs to sign another but very carefully record deal , she still has %60 to get signed and get invested money on . I'd love to see a video about Jessie J - she seemed to have a lot of success with her first couple of albums, despite getting mixed reviews, and now she's pretty much disappeared. Her last couple of albums failed to chart and she was even a contestant on a Chinese singing show. I think you'd make a really interesting video on that!

I like Iggy Azalea and think that people should give her a break already. She's been unproblematic for years now and consistently releases good music. No, In My Defense isn't amazing but it does have some great songs on it as do the recent EPs. I also think it's total nonsense that her rhymes are ghostwritten. People say that about literally every female rapper ever, and it's generally not true. She herself has said that some songs (Fancy being the main one) are written collaboratively and that it's reflected in the writing credits. All that being said...I think the chance of a major commercial comeback for her is basically zero so she should focus on doing what she wants as an indie act.

Iggy Azalea is an Amazing artist that was really Destroyed by alot of people.... she's one of the best female rappers if we are being completely honest, her vision her music videos her Flow and word play is not average. Alot of people just don't care for her anymore and I don't think they ever will. I do think Iggy can get back to the level of success she had in 2014 all she really has to do is start collaborating with Big name artists like Drake, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez.... it would bring her right back into the mainstream media but I don't think Iggy wants to take that route.

The new classic was one of my fav album of 2014 tbh. Still listen to it today. I really like in my defense but some songs are fillers. I think her biggest issue above all was that her music wasn’t very engaging. She had a couple of pop hits but her credibility as a rapper was non existent and once the pop scene got tired of her, she really had NO ONE to fall back on. Acts like Carly Rae Jepsen and Charli XCX who achieved pop success at one point and fell from that can still stay afloat thanks to a small but extremely loyal fanbase that still support them no matter what. Iggy doesn’t really have that and now she basically has to rebrand herself with each new release and it just isn’t working. I honestly think she’s better off working behind the scenes as a music video director or something because she has a great eye for visuals. But as far as music goes, I think she should just do it on the side every now and again and pursue something else.

I really liked your analysis. I have mixed feelings about her but I vibe to some of her tracks ! I think that you said this in a previous video “it’s hard to even be in the charts and to have a song or an album in top 100 or 200 is already a success” and I very much agree with that. I don’t think she could climb back to the success she had with Fancy but if she puts out there more quality content and tours, I think she could get close to that level of success. Btw real ratings come from people who listen to her music. Critics have biased opinions. Just because 6 critics weren't fans of the album doesn't mean the album is bad. In my defense was hot. She made an album for people to dance. That's what she wanted to do. Iggy will still be relevant.
