Blind (July '10) For Cannibal I would have followed with: 1. We R Who We R 2. Blow 3. The Harold Song 4. Sleazy/Remixes 5. Cannibal Release Fuck Him, He's a DJ from his remix album. This would allowed her to come in with Warrior with great momentum. The thing about Warrior it would be perfect for her to chose experimental singles that will prep fans for a change in her musical direction. I would have chosen these singles: 1. Die Young 2. Thinking of You 3. Supernatural/Deconstructed Mix 4. Love Into the Light

She had songs that showed more deeper insight on emotions and self independence. Even the upbeat party songs on Warrior are very different sonically to Animal. But there was a major hold back for sure because of Luke and the label. So in some senses the album is hollow and depending to who.

Would you ever play a clip of the songs you’re talking about, just so I can remember ? Even if you play 5 seconds of it you should be good with copyright.
@popdissected44005 жыл бұрын
I'll try playing around with it. I've avoided doing that to avoid any copyright claims, but I can try it out for sure! I never considered some people may have forgotten what the songs sound like, so thank you for bringing it to my attention!

I know that another music reviewer I watch (she's a really nice energetic lady, I can't remember her name but she's popular! Doing a Madonna series lately) uses audio and I can't figure out how she's allowed to do it, if it gets claimed, if she can monetize... Might be worth asking.

I wish that "Last Goodbye" and "Dirty Love" were her singles. It would have been amazing, but Dr. Luke really did a number on both Kesha's career and on this album!!!

Do you know the artist Ava max. She had her break almost 2 years ago with sweat but psycho but she still didn’t realist her debut album. Maybe you can make a video about her and how bad her labal handels her career

Too many people judge Kesha for what the record label forced her to do. Anyone that judges her just needs to listen to the deconstructed tracks, see if that doesn't change their minds

she said herself that she doesnt even care about charts. she re-invents herself every era and thats all im asking for. idc about charts either she’s happy and has control over her music. it matters. 🖤

I love that song, but I’m glad they took it off radio because that shouldn’t be the message they were sending out. I remember being 7 or something like that and my parents didn’t want me to hear it, I understand now.

Thank you for mentioning Sandy Hook. You did your research very well. That unfortunate circumstance caused this singles momentum to die. I was so upset, because if the song would have continued to strive with nothing tampering it, it could have helped hype up sales.

This is so sad to hear because I love the record and felt like jumped to hard on the Kesha hate train. And I agree, the singles weren’t strong. My fav track is Love into the Light. It should’ve been a single.

Hii Can you make a video on why Melodrama underperformed commercially?’ I would love to hear your take on one of my favorite albums ever!

I remember when DY came out; warrior was a good album but the deluxe tracks needed to be on the standard. Also Dr. Luke didn’t want Dirty Love to have a music video so Kesha did the video herself

At least Ke$ha found her calling in the song,"Praying". Seriously, Praying, I dare say, is the best Kesha song to date. That emotional scream will potentially make anyone shed a tear. :(

It’s just music dude. Music shouldn’t be about chart potions and numbers. I’m watching this being like “it’s just a song” people like it or they don’t, we elaborate so much on why a song fails and how it failed to perform compared to the previous single, what song should have been a single... it’s like shut up it’s just music

Outrage culture and the media killed warrior. It's a shame people couldn't make the seperation, this was imo one of the best pop albums released during the 2010s

YES, I am so glad you brought this up! I have been a Kesha stan since I first heard TiK ToK back in October 2009 and I remember the Warrior era vividly and can concur what you said in this video. To me, Warrior is the album that "could've been", in the sense that its creative direction and intentions were manipulated and thwarted by Dr. L*ke and RCA. Between Cannibal and Warrior, she'd made a collaborative album with the rock band, The Flaming Lips, named 'Lip$ha' which has never been released and we'll likely never hear. Dr. L*ke didn't let Kesha and TFL release this rock album as he felt it would destroy her party girl image that had seen so much success and made him lots of money. In addition, Kesha has a rock song called 'Machine Gun Love' that she intended to be a part of Warrior, which Dr. L*ke and RCA again wouldn't let her release as it conflicted with her electro-pop sound. The song has only been performed live as part of the Warrior tour, with Kesha saying before each performance, "take your phones out now, this might be the only time you hear this song". It is clear that Kesha's second album, Warrior, was not allowed to be authentic to Kesha's vision, develop organically and showcase her talents and inspirations. As a result, the album is a mixed bag of pop, EDM and rock influenced tracks that corporate men had a hand in. To me, the mixed intentions and suppressed creativity can be heard throughout the album, resulting in it underperforming. Warrior's EDM breakdowns were also fairly new to the mainstream, so Warrior was something of a guinea pig to Dr. L*ke's new craze that wouldn't catch on until a couple of year later. On lesser notes, I think the album artwork is not very appealing on the shelf or online music stores and the single choices were wrong. Die Young was evidently a good choice due to its strong performance, but C'mon (as fun as it is) and Crazy Kids were poor choices. In particular, the tacking on of Will.I.Am to Crazy Kids was really an empty grab at attention and exposure to try and regain a top 10 hit. To me, Supernatural, Gold Trans Am, All That Matters (the bridge is heavenly!) and Last Goodbye could all have been good single choices, among others. The latter, Last Goodbye was highly requested by fans (and I think Kesha herself) as a single to RCA, so much so that a relevant hashtag trended on twitter, but RCA clearly refuses to listen. Much like what happened to The Harold Song on Cannibal, another song that could have shown Kesha's range as an artist but didn't receive RCA support. I believe The Harold Song even charted in the US, with Kesha tweeting that if us fans got THS into the top ten, her label would release it more officially, but alas, I don't think it did reach top ten and we were left with another example of Kesha not being allowed to flourish and showcase her creativity and talent. Unfortunately, I think High Road (out January 31st!) is receiving similar treatment by RCA, as they are trying to regain her pop dominance by not letting Kesha release songs that she wants as singles, such as Tonight. Thanks for another great video, Pop Dissected! I hope this comment isn't too long, but I just have so much to say! Hopefully Kesha can get out of her record deal soon and we will see her in all her glory 🙌🌈✨

Machine Gun Love was done dirty and deserved to be the lead single. Actually a certified BOP and I don't even really like rock. But that's Kesha for you, making you like genres you don't even like. ALSO: Resentment is also being done dirty this time.Amazing and emotional song but it has absolutely NO promo around it. Im betting you some kesha fans dont even know it came out...

The songs that Kesha had more control over (thinking of you, dirty love, gold trans am, past lives, LITL, only wanna dance with you) deserve more recognition! Even songs like wonderland, last goodbye and all that matters are pretty good! It will forever blow my mind that cmon and crazy kids were singles.
