RTE never were offered Dave Allen to buy. the BBC loved that the show was THEIR baby and I would not blame them There were a few truly humourless CAtholics who would not let themselves laugh at this but the rest of us adored Dave Allen and were very sad when he passed!

The report also says that the actual number of victims was likely much higher, according to the research by experts from the Universities of Giessen, Heidelberg and Mannheim.

A Roman Catholic priest who sexually abused boys at an abbey school in the 1970s and 80s has been sentenced to 18 years in prison. Andrew Soper, 74, formerly known as Father Laurence Soper, was a fugitive for five years after jumping bail. An international warrant was issued for his arrest. In March 2011, shortly before he was due to be questioned for the fourth time by police, Soper withdrew £182,000 from Vatican bank accounts and jumped bail, becoming a fugitive in Kosovo. He was extradited in 2016 and arrested at Luton airport.
