UNESCO World Heritage Site that is powerfully built like a castle on the outside and a grand palace on the inside. It worked as a permanent spot for the Popes on the grounds that during the fourteenth century, the Popes left the Vatican in Rome which they had consistently controlled from and moved to Avignon here in France remaining for almost 100 years making this the main focus of force in Europe for 100 years, the city's Brilliant Period during which extraordinary houses were fabricated. The town was protected by a wall built around it as money came in. They built a magnificent palace that was appropriate for their position of authority and wealth. It was filled with the finest furniture and artwork, and it covered 15,000 square meters-roughly four times the size of a typical Gothic cathedral. Then walk a couple of moments north from the Spot du Palais into a beautiful recreational area called the Roche des Doms, laying on the highest point of a little slope disregarding the Old Town. Enjoy the stunning views of the city's rooftops and the Rhône River from the ramparts. You will reach the legendary Pont St-Bénezet, another UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates back to the late 12th century and is located in Avignon. One of Avignon's significant exhibition halls is a craftsmanship gallery, called the Musée Calvet and is situated in the lower part of Regret Joseph Vernet. The museum houses collections of decorative and fine art from the 15th to the 20th centuries in a magnificent 18th-century mansion. The majority of significant periods in art history are represented by excellent paintings in this collection.
