Then, it actually happened, and the reasoning for it was INCREDIBLY well thought out. Incredible chapter, REALLY excited to see Chapter 5.

Doey was actually made up of Three Kids : 1. Jack Ayers (the one at the Commercial Video) : He is an Innocent kid that made up Doey's Joy and Cheerful personality. 2. Kevin Barnes : He is a Mean kid that made up Doey's Anger and Impulsive Hatred personality. 3. Matthew Hallard : He is a caring kid that made up Doey's Sorrow and Worried personality. Usually Doey was able to maintain this three personalities into one, which make him stable. But should he was overwhelmed by Tantrum, Kevin Barnes personality would take over and cause his other personality to be unstable, turning Doey into a Monster.

I have to say, doey's story really hits hard, he wasn't even an orphan like the rest, his transformation only happened because of a single unlucky accident. He was never the same, and would never be in his right mind ever again after what those doctors did to him. He took the lives of his parents without meaning to, and tried to atone for it by dedicating his life and his abilities to helping the other kids in the safe haven, And when it all fell apart, there was nothing holding him together anymore. In his monster form, everything about doey really comes to light. He's bottled up so much grief, pain and regret so that he could protect the other toys. his personality disorder comes to light, showing how he tried to be what everyone needed him to be, a friend, and guardian, a cheery spirit, but really deep down he was just a scared kid. When he fought the player in the caves, whenever he said something like "i don't wanna be here anymore" or "Mommy, daddy, I just wanna go home" He really is just a kid, a kid who's been broken beyond repair. I can't even imagine what this kid's been through, what he's had to see and do. Jack truely is a tragic character, I hope that now he can finally rest, the nightmare is over now and he can be with his family, his friends and his mom and dad. Rest in peace Jack

Poor doey... I genuinely thought that he was gonna stay our ally judging from his dialogue about harley, but I was wrong, Also in his backstory, he killed his parents, which is the darkest thing We've seen in poppy playtime, period.. Honestly, I think doey had to die for the best, after losing his safe haven, there was no point in living anymore, everything he had was gone, from bis childhood, to his life as a toy, this shows how brutal the prototype is..

Kevin was the one that killed Jack's parents. Kevin was the most problematic since he snapped so easily and was mentally the weakest. Jack and Matthew are obviously the only ones in control with Jack being the mature one, if Matthew gets emotional Kevin would take control which makes it harder for Jack to keep control of the body.

The moment I saw the safe haven being absolutely destroyed along the toys with it and Doey saying "I'm sorry" before he died made me cry so much. He wasn't an evil character who betrayed us for self greed, he was broken and corrupted by anger for lossing those who he protected and cared so much leading him wanting to avenge them through us and Poppy. Doey is purely a good guy with good intentions who cares a lot but then got emotionally overwhelmed and controlled like how a kid would react since he's a kid deep inside... such a sad and tragic character.😢

Hearing Doey break down, saying it’s too loud (sensory overload) and say he wants his parents and just wants to go home, but he can’t because he confused them for his tormentors and killed them. If you look at his character design to in his normal form it’s incredible, his hands being yellow and orange while his feet are red, rest of the body blue. I think red represents his angry personality, his yellow the friendly one and the orange his leader. Notice whenever he gets upset he’ll stoop this red feet but his yellow or orange hands hold himself to comfort this angry side to clam him down. In the picture with the children only his yellow and orange hands protect them, his red feet aren’t present. Tho notice the red markings over poppy his same red color that represents his angry personality. There is so much to uncover. Along with the different tones in his voices and how his eye change making him look different depending on who’s present or taking the “steering wheel”. I think his alts have been incorporated in great ways! Incredible design and good representation of how trauma and DID can look like. (Coming from a character designer and person being evaluated for did)

Honestly after learning that Doey is three people tied into one body it explains alot about how he acts he has mood swings. You have Jack the one who loved Doey and acts kind and probably makes him say "Hiya there pal~" most likely the one mainly providing the kind side of him namely whenever you run into him after a time and he greets you in this over the top cheery manner if i had to guess hes probably the right arm(yellow).(The placement of the sad and angry faces when he becomes a huge monster says alot) Then you have kevin the moody and aggressive kid Im thinking is the left arm (orange) given during the mental breakdown scene specifically his right arm whacks his head most likely to keep control of the body he's obviously the one whos in charge whenever doey gets aggravated or upset and then you have Matthew the feet(red) most likely the one whos most prone to worry most likely only comes out when he talks about the others in safe haven as well as stressing his doubts with poppys plan. Its so interesting to see how all these three have a voice in the body and you can clearly see this in his flip out before becoming a monster and oddly enough when he becomes a monster the three of them seem to pause for a moment to become articulated either that or Mathew and Jack were trying their hardest to keep Kevin from full control only to fail and Kevin goes into a rage even during the boss fight you hear them complaining about noise which im assuming is the other two basically being dragged along and having a moment of control during Kevins rage only to be pushed back down its very interesting to witness knowing the context of the Doeys creation poor guy

Technically both of you are correct. Ollie was indeed killed, but he was killed before we came to the factory at all in chapter one. So, the prototype used ‘Ollie’ as a sort of fake identity the entire time just to try to get us closer to him, which eventually succeeded when he destroyed the safe haven, which had caused Doey’s freakout which got him killed, and even Kissy is presumed dead due to the Prototype stealing the explosives and blowing it up, which is when they sent us down in the hole.

Poor Doey…….having three different consciousness mixed inside of him can’t be easy Doey could easily be Autistic Representation with how he deals with different stimuli and his emotional control as someone with Autism I know that all too well of get overstimulated I have my meltdown moments too Doey is such a fun character design and his role is a great one

Man.. Doey’s story is tragic if you analyzed the VHS tapes throughout the chapter. Doey was an experiment that was an amalgamation of 3 children. Jack Ayers who was really just a bubbly and cheerful kid who fell into the dough in the batch mixer on the Playtime Co. Tour and died tragically. Kevin Barnes who was a mentally unstable orphan from Home Sweet Home who excelled in all physical, and mental tests. Lastly Matthew Hallard, who was a kid who was really responsible. When Doey was born.. Jack Ayers parents: Susan Ayers and George Ayers just wanted to see their little boy Jackie again, but it was too late.. Doey had no control of his Kevin Barnes counterpart, and because of the torture and agony Doey had been through, and since it affected Doey’s Kevin Barnes counterpart a lot, Doey lost control, and he killed the parents of his Jack Ayers counterpart. Since then.. Doey’s been trying to atone for what he did, which was out of his control, and he’s been trying his best to be a guardian for the rest of the other toys and children in the Safe Haven while Poppy disappeared, and though Doey was hesitant to follow Poppy’s plan, he followed through, all because he wanted to protect those toys and kids in Safe Haven, and when the events unfolded and when the Prototype killed everyone in Safe Haven, unbeknownst to Doey, since he, as well as Poppy, got manipulated by what they thought was Ollie, and when those toys died, Doey lost all reason to keep his cool, and his Kevin Barnes counterpart took over, and he’s wailing in agony, regret, anger, sadness and guilt as he’s trying to kill you, all 3 of Doey’s counterparts are in pain after seeing all the toys Doey swore to protect die before his very eyes, and his cries about wishing he could go back home to his mommy and daddy, those were the cries of Jack Ayers.. Man, hearing Doey scream when we kill him, and his last words, all of it, was truly painful.

While I fully expected him to turn up during the chapter, since characters that appear at the end of the trailers turn out to be the "Villians", but I’m glad that it didn’t just follow that trope and made him a broken antagonist, having to see all of the people he so desperately took care of just killed in a matter of seconds because of the player, it must've sucked. And the best part is, it didn’t feel rushed, so it was very natural and not like it just suddenly happened. genuine bravos to the team behind poppy playtime
