Ive been a fan of poppy since bubblebath days i always thought she had a great singing voice and now that she shifted to metal I thought it was the best decision shes ever done. I honestly think it has to do with her collaberating with other bands that get on some of the fans of those bands nerves. Some fandoms are just toxic and picky. But poppy is stil killing it! 🔥

I knew the haters would come as soon as she started to break more into the mainstream. It unfortunately comes with the territory. Still really sad to see someone who was so revered as a kind of cult icon suddenly be on the receiving end of such negativity, much of it being blatant misogyny and also weird cringe jealousy from Bad Omens fans who are angry she's (probably) dating Noah. I just hope Poppy pays it no attention because I know she's a really sensitive person and has mentioned in the past how comments can effect her. Poppy is amazing and Negative Spaces is AOTY!

What makes me sad is that it feels like a lot of poppyseeds are mean to her, too :( obviously people are allowed to dislike certain songs or albums even if they like the artist, but what’s the point of mentioning it 24/7? Anyway, I’m glad she’s doing good, and it’s cool to see a commentary channel talk about her! Nice video!

Poppy is a curious one. I'm a huge poppyseed and her success (or lack thereof) fascinates me. What I mean is her detractors talk about her like she's had taylor swift level success, when she's literally an alternative artist on an independent metal label. The few times she's signed with a major label, they've done jack shit for her. Yet, the "industry plant" bullshit persists. Poppy gets shit for a few reasons. the gatekeeping in metal is out of control. The rockists crap on courtney laplante too, but not to Poppy's level. My reasoning is Poppy is a "girly girl", so fragile men feel "wierd" liking her. Which is not to say Courtney and Tatiana schmyluk aren't feminine, but they're alpha girls who won't take any disrespect. Poppy on the other hand is very feminine and dresses and acts like an off kilter metal disney princess. Poppy is certainly no pushover (plus she's tall and absolutely shredded), but she does strike me as awkward and shy. So the haters smell blood because they think she's weak. No, she literally just doesn't give a shit what you think. And hyper opinionated keyboard warriors can't stand it. Poppy's also not "bubbly" and giggley, so even when she was doing pop, she didn't connect with pop fans because again, she's a bit of a strange bird (which is why I adore her). I could go on, but I've never seen an artist write such an endless stream of bangers with anthemic hooks (regardless of genre) and not blow up. If Billie Eilish released the song Stagger, she would be revered (even more) Poppy? No one cared. It's just not fair. I do think 2024 and 2025 will be Poppy's year(s). She'll never be a huge star because the only label to ever support her (Sumerian) just doesn't have the pull of the majors. But I think that suits poppy just fine. Some of the lyrics on Negative Spaces seem to relate to having no regrets personally or professionally. Let the chips fall where they may. I do think Poppy will get to a 3,000 seat venue sweet spot. That's a solid career as an alternative artist.

I have nothing against her or her music, but on a deeper level seeing her tie up with Titanic Sinclair after he basically set Mars Argo on a downward spiral through very very bad behavior, seeing Poppy sort of fostered by him to be an almost clone of her, and her standing by him through the allegations only to later leave and to my knowledge never apologize... All of it left a bad taste in my mouth. She might have distanced herself from it, and Mars Argo has moved on, but I can't just forget about it.

@@Levyathyn it's happened a long time ago though, they settled it and at the end of the day Titanic was the one who did the harm. I don't understand how some dudes are still on stage despite being accused of DV (like 5FDP) or after prison (FIR) but people can't forget about Poppy associating with Titanic when she was super young and then completely distancing herself from the guy. Of course you're free to have it bother you and not want to listen to her music and all, I just wouldn't accept it as someone using that to justify actively hating on her and bringing her down (not that YOU'RE doing that here but you get my jeez)

@LEO_IS_VIBINGG this and poppy later made a public statement coming out about titanic being abusive to her as well and that he kept threatening s**cide to keep her with him, and in said public statement she said she "apologizes to his past victims" she can't directly apologize to mars and she legally can't mention her!
