I just found your channel and this artist. Watched the video and then came back for your video. I found both interesting. It reminded me of a song by the fantastic singer songwriter Harry Chapin. In the 1960s a man climbed the clock tower at the University of Texas in Austin. His name was Charles Joseph Whitman. It was in 1966 that he began his killing spree by killing both his wife and mother by stabbing them to death. He eventually killed 11 people and wounded 31 more. Harry Chapin wrote a song about it that is over 10 minutes long I believe and is the darkest song I have ever heard. It is titled "Sniper" on his album Sniper and Other Love Songs. I am a new subscriber and I would love to hear what you think of the song. Oh yes, I should mention that the song is written from the snipers point of view.

I think the most interesting aspects to me are the lines "in the morning I will mar myself again" and "but they made me leave." The marring seems like a form of punishment. But then the other line is said, in my opinion it's said quite bitterly. It's as if the guilt is hollow when compared to the isolation in Miracle Valley. Also, houseofpsychoticwomn was a demo she had on her soundcloud for quite a while. The title is a reference to the collection of essays by the same name that discusses female neurosis in horror movies.

Weirdly enough, I can interpret this from both the victim and the perpetrator. Since I looked up the word after listening to it (losely since I didn't want to know more about that horrible crime), I still felt closer to the victim in the words. So now I have various interpretations but I'd much rather listen to it from the victims perspective, even when that view is a rather pessimistic one to have, not a healing view at all, which is okay to have sometimes, that need to carve at ones' own wounds doesn't always go away.

So you read the words as if the victim was talking?? Since I saw Ethel say on Tumblr that it was from the perpetrator pov (if I recall correctly though) I did not think about that at all. But I was quite weirded out being in his head

@LEO_IS_VIBINGG Yes, I interpreted the song, from the moment it came out, as the pov of someone who's been abused by family; after the first listen my sister and I looked at each other and before anything else, we said 'Lucifer?', and that is also another pov I felt. I love knowing exactly the stories in Hayden's lyrics, but I don't really use anything other than YT, so thank you for your hard work, otherwise it would have taken me a while to know, maybe after Hayden were to talk about it in her channel or an article. I think that if this album is so specific I'll listen to it first without knowing anything, and then do research. I know Preacher's Daughter is also specific and conceptual, but in my opinion it's difficult to not see that story unfold, every song has specific lyrics that are matter of fact, that leave you with no other way to read them, so maybe in 'Perverts' it's only this song that can be read as something else. Either way, I love this song so I'm going to stick with my own feelings, otherwise I won't be able to enjoy it and that would be a shame 😭
