Somehow I mess this up pretty bad. I’m putting the blame 100% on me. WARNING lots of ramblings in this video. View at your own risk.

Hit with 600 grit lightly and reapply and buff it did that to a customers and it made it look like glass after words. That stuff is great it drys fast though and hard on overlaps. Easy fix though hope helps and not to late.

I had the same problem and I used the supplied applicator. I’m thinking this product can be useful in some scenarios but (like ceramic coatings) there is a learning curve to get the best results. I might try on another beater vehicle where anything is an improvement to see if I can do better.

I just applied the satin kit on my 1950 truck. Followed their instructions to a T. Scrubbed all flaking off, scuffed with a maroon scotch pad, washed it twice. Washed it again with their supplied gray pad. Then used the wax/oil remover. I let it dry completely, wiped it down with a terry cloth before applying with their supplied applicator. It streaked horribly. Spent a couple hours the next day scuffing, wiped it down again and it streaked again…. Not impressed - especially with the cost. I guess I’m sanding it off and going a different direction.

Sorry to hear you are having the same issues. I’ve tried again and did exactly what you did and it did the same thing. I’m thinking it maybe the satin only. I saw one recently done in flat and it didn’t streak at all. As a last resort I’m going to try and spray it.

I got the same streaking. I think spraying would be much better. It's on now. I was thinking of scotch brite to buff it back to just flat finish.

I had the same problem, and it seems a lot of people do as well. I yet to find a response from poppys on a solution...

I've watched this over and over. I noticed you used the edge of the application pad which has stiching which put grooves in the clear. I watched Poppy's Patina page applications and they used the flat of the applicator pad.
@NeilAbalone20 күн бұрын
ya the first thing i noticed was how little clear coat you put on the pad. the clear coat can't flow out into dry areas that have no paint on them. it can only level out the high and the low spots within well coated areas. and it may need multiple coats

Same thing happened to me and I took every precaution to ensure the surface was as instructed for the best application. Also, made sure surface temp was well within range. All I can say is Streak City. Now I have to sand this crap off my car!

Ouch that’s rough. I’m glad I only did one fender now. Good luck with the repairs.

Mine also did the same thing , and I got runs working from bottom to top to prevent that but streaks are terrible hopefully it will cure better than it looks
@russellwolter51539 ай бұрын
The streaks are not from Poppy's, it is the black paint which got re-wetted and mixed into the clear. You applied it correctly, the black paint failed you.

I guess that’s possible but according to their sight that shouldn’t happen with paint I have. It’s 10 year old single stage paint.
@eugenemanns11929 ай бұрын
It's not the paint
@mitchsavoie35407 ай бұрын
@flipflopsgarage actually they tell you it is possible it could reactive certain paints
@flipflopsgarage7 ай бұрын
They do state that but my paint didn't fall under either type that could reactivate. @@mitchsavoie3540

I just had the same problem on my black car, using the gloss wipe on. I followed everything they said including using their pad. I then grey scotch padded it back down and tryed again using the pad you used but lighter on the clear. Same streaky results.
@flipflopsgarageАй бұрын
Yeah I’ve tested it a couple more times and got the same results. I’ve tried to do it in low humidity and it doesn’t help. In an upcoming video I’m going to try spraying it as a last ditch effort.
@danielj591Ай бұрын
@@flipflopsgarage Keep us posted! I’m going to try and wet sand it to see if it’s tolerable enough for now.

I had the same issue with my black F100. I've heard that 2 coats does help. I figure spraying is the way to go
@flipflopsgarage11 ай бұрын
Maybe spraying is the way. I’m starting to think maybe I had it too thick. I’m going to sand that smooth and give it another go before I pass final judgement

@@flipflopsgaragehave you sanded and reapplied? If so, how did that turn out? I’m in the same boat

I wonder if rolling it on flat surfaces would be better
@eugenemanns11929 ай бұрын
Something happen to mine wouldn't use it again
@smokeyandtheboxer23110 ай бұрын
I’ve heard this can happen if you don’t use their applicator. Looks like you have them but used a microfiber wax applicator.🤷🏻♂️
@flipflopsgarage10 ай бұрын
I did exactly that. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve been in the auto restoration biz for decades, inexpensive quick fix products applied by wiping, rolling and brushes are no substitute for good prep, expensive products and age old proven methods of application. I can see the value in Poppy’s patina in order to preserve old patina surfaces from further decay. But applying it over the top of newer primers, paints, etc.. is probably not what it’s intended for. Just my two cents.

The parts confused me to is it the same as 8 ounces to 1 ounce ?🤣
@flipflopsgarage3 ай бұрын
I think that’s how it works. I’m about to repaint the truck and revisit the clear coat. Probably get confused all over again
