My theory: in terms of storytelling - the jazz part is the part where poppy is "saying cheese", faking it, hiding the rage and chaos within - and being "poppy". Mellow, high pitch talking with some Japanese. Kind of like how people behave when there is a camera in front of them, and there is a need to portray an image different from how they really feel inside. Could even argue that it could reflect on how she used to perform on KZbin as Poppy - It had a lot to do with acting, less about genuine emotional expression (its still acting in a sense, but... You know what I mean)
@thegummychair16133 жыл бұрын
Hmmm love that last part. Possibly the last breakdown after the jazz break is her “crashing” in a sort a way? Like, she had to fake something for a moment before finally letting it all out until she runs out of energy.

No it's definitely called screaming.
@fantassthicc78172 жыл бұрын
This is definitely just screaming, if you wanted to be technical you could say hardcore influenced vocals, those tend to have a lot of emotion within the screams, but the term I think you are looking for is gutterals/grow, but this is nooooooo where near that magnitude. This is what I like to call beginner metal music essentially, super simple & catchy chugs/riffs on repeat which are easy to bob/headbang to, & to spice it up they threw in the little jazz section. Not that, that’s a bad thing. Material like this is needed for people to expand their tastes if they are willing imo, gotta start somewhere.

Truly amazing...and ends up being super proggy; between the thrashy 5/4 verse sections (which isn't prog on its own, but adds to it), the jazz break, the syncopation towards the end, the constant tempo changes, modulation, and the overall very original sound...this is officially prog metal, and I'm all for it.
@danielparrott83393 жыл бұрын
I think it is actually in a fairly sedate four beats in a bar until the jazz comes in- the thrashy verse is just very syncopated. All bets are off for the metal breakdowns though. I am quickly coming to the conclusion that all the material in this song is based on the jazz interlude. Which would make put it in the ninja level proggy category.
@aelarlightbringer63723 жыл бұрын
@@danielparrott8339 Actually, yeah, you're right, it is just syncopated 4/4 at first; I counted it wrong. And yeah, it does indeed seem to be based on the jazz section!

@@aelarlightbringer6372 I've got to say, Poppy is an expert at making foursquare music sound insane and irregular music sound normal. A case in point is the second verse of Cue.
