Excellent!! High altitude but cold, dense air - steady laminar airflow - nice controlled approach along the ridge to avoid any lee rotors - using the Cub's superb STOL characteristics to the full - can't see IAS but I would imagine a safe 1.1-1.2 VS1 into the headwind. Wouldn't surprise me if the pilot had climbed/walked the landing area before attempting to land there. Very nice!

Yes, that probably is a bit aggressive! Given that Vref is normally 1.3 VS for the landing configuration, and I imagine this guy has STOL mods, and he's heading into a laminar wind, even at Vref the short field performance would be impressive. In a constant wind with power on you could certainly let the speed drop drop below Vref. The camera angle also flatters slightly. Still, nice short field technique!

We had wheel tracks appear on our model flying field one morning when we arrived. That too was a Super Cub pilot who had to take a leak. The field was all of 80 metres long, so no problem.
