In part two of our post pandemic food walk at VV Puram’s Thindi Beedhi., we explore a bevy of grazing fare, from an austere onion dosae to a rich and creamy khoa holige, dry fruit kulfis, a healthy coconut offering, and more. The surprise find though was a deliciously light masala puri and the softest gulab jamun at a 70-year-old snack shop just outside the street. Hope you’ve enjoyed this street food series.

Glistening with ghee, breaking under its own weight, hardly holding itself, melting at the tip of touch, bathing under a lustrous stream of lentil rich sambar, spicy cocunut chutney, accompanied by a generous dollop of kempu chutney and so on....

This onion dosa is looking more like an Uthappam. And Mr Kripal, the happy and joyous smile on your face after tasting the first bite of gulab jam is indeed a sight to behold! I think there is lot of a child in you still despite your age.

I think we have to discourage coconut flower. Ideally it should be sowed and it becomes next big coconut tree - Kalpataru. Earlier in homes we used to eat only when we saw it after breaking the coconut. But here it already a sapling and they are breaking it

Awesome video. There is also an interesting fact about the coconut flower. Whenever we break the coconut in temple,if you find flower inside the kayi,it is considered as good omen. If the kayi got rottened,it is considered as bad omen.

My childhood home was close to Shivan gulkan house in 1989 and I was 5 years old, there was only VB bakery, Shivanna gulkan stores, Paninpuri shop beside Shivanna gulkan. It's so amazing to see over the years it's grown and growing soo big. It's also people like you who contributed to the growth of these places and generated so many jobs. Great work Kripala ji. Excellent channel, loved your coverage sir! Bangalore, although it has sizeable young middle class population, doesn't have strong street food culture like Delhi or Mumbai..... I think the Govt. should support "Thindi beedi" and help in improving it. The stalls could be set up properly, crowding/cleanliness/food quality could be monitored, more outlets could be opened, food innovation encouraged, etc. V.V. Puram Food Street could become a big business & create jobs for many 🤠.

Chandra Sweets predates most chaat stores in Bangalore and most stores that are on food street today. My father started visiting here in the 1970s and I've been going since the 90s. The food is still the same as it was back then as is the owner's attitude. I'm surprised he didn't yell at you 😅.
