My father and I were just talking tonight about what he should collect next, I think he is going to try and get the kookaburra series.

Kookaburras are my favorite. I just finished my collection of 1990-2024 1 oz Silver Kookaburra coins

I guess I could look it up but was 1990 the first year of the kookaburra? That's an awesome collection if so

Yes and 1990 1n2 1991 were both $5 coins@@AnxiousStacker

Love perth mint coins. Only have one atm, a wedge tailed eagle. I'm looking at getting into a bunch of kookaburras.

The matte finish of the 2024 and “Kookaburra” lettering of the last few years make this my absolute favorite coin of all time. I’m going to buy as many as possible this year 😎🐦⬛

I absolutely love Perth Mint design's. So beautiful and elegant, with a great refinery process. Unfortunately my wallet doesn't like Perth Mint as much as I do😂

'23, '22 and '17 are my favorite. I didn't like the '24 design. until I saw other bird coins and rounds from other mints that have poorly defined details. now I love even '24 - perth level of detail, multiple levels of finish and quality are amazing and far beyond a lot of other mints! and I don't like charles, but the simplified design of the obverse with frosted bg looks amazing! the portrait is great too, quite flattering, and semi-shine for it is much easier to look at than the chrome shine on other coins.

I agree with you. I like the subtle silver look. Proof is OK, but I like most my silver more natural

Perth Mint is always top notch quality. They just do everything with such class. A shame the Kookaburra is not more well received in the collector community. Consider that Libertads are more than twice the mintage of kookaburras. As a collector of Kookaburras….the snake in the talons is….a drawback. You even read it yourself in the description from Perth Mint, they carry snakes in their bill. An asterisk should be made on the mintage. When it comes to Perth Mint in general, they have a maximum mintage limit. For the Kookaburra, that max is 500,000. For the great majority of years, Perth Mint did not hit the maximum (until recent years). The 10 oz and 1 Kilo Kookaburras are always a winner. Just something about holding a chunky chunky coin. Only the 1. Kilo Libertad compares.

Runs or sets of Kookaburras will fetch a little higher than some other premium bullion coins, but not through your LCS.
@floridastacker7 ай бұрын
Good point! You'll get spot for them at a lcs. Avoid when selling
@UKDark_Mark7 ай бұрын
@@floridastacker And I try to avoid ‘back stacking’ - you will unlikely ever make your money back if you start paying premiums for earlier years in a bullion run set. Some dates on a super small handful of coins, maybe, but personally I stay away.

Really is a beautiful coin. Just got the new one and thinking about getting another to flip down the road. Perth mint definitely puts out some stunning pieces. Wish the US mint would take some pointers from them. I also love that the design changes every year. Wish the design wouldn't have changed on the ASE all together, or wish it would change every year. Great stuff buddy

I've been picking up a couple of the Kookaburras each of the last several years through my One Gold account, and I really am liking the series. I'd like to have the back dates, but I'm not sure if that is financially something I want to commit to with there being so many other goals that I have when it comes to stacking. However, if I find a back date here or there for a reasonable price, I'll pick it up.

I really like the Kooks, and always get the new one each year. Not a fan of APMEX though since they have some of the highest premiums in the industry.

Yeah, they have the largest inventory and most selection so also the highest overhead to provide what they have

A paid APMEX advertisement. Now that I understand I’m watching the Home Shopping Network I have a question. Am I the only one who knows Kookaburras catch and carry snakes with their beaks?
@creather20007 ай бұрын
Fuck Apmex. Overpriced, horrible customer service. I’d go with SD or LCSs
@floridastacker7 ай бұрын
Apmex isn't a bullion dealer by heart. They are a rare coin dealer and only game in town to find a 1989 quarter oz Gold Maple in stock. Sure, that's one Buyer looking for that specific coin, but if anyone has it, it's Apmex. For basic bullion, they do have 9fine mint and pioneer, which are priced with SD Bullion products. They aren't as bad as people love to comment. You just have to figure out what they have that works
