U Maine Forestry 2011 here, don't stand in line with blade, if it breaks it can come out through the opening in the guard with enough force to drive it through the log

Yeah, I don't know. As long as the air-dried stuff is properly stickered and dried for a correct amount of time (and checked for moisture or the buyer knows it's not seasoned fully and does the drying on their end)....air-dried lumber is 8-10% moisture just as kiln dried.
