great job guys!! if you guys want to minimise your waste when cutting 16 footer you can always cut a 8-10-12' piece on your first cut, start cutting at half the log.. you then cut your waste in less than half

Awesome job gentlemen! Just a word of advice from a fellow sawyer, make sure to run your engine when using your hydraulics, it will quickly drain your battery if you don't. keep sawing!!!

Y’all did good. The waste ( slabs) someone might buy to side a barn or storage building. Rustic look. Don’t forget eye protection 😊

DO NOT put your arm under the logs...hydraulics can give out. Use a broom. Various stuff will come out of sawdust shoot, be careful with that too! Maybe a saw dust trough? easier to sweep out. If the farm doesn't need it (imagine you do) you can sell sawdust too. Study up on hydraulic maintenance especially with cold weather coming. Wear goggles (or your Dad's glasses).

Ok. We are planning on adding to the Sawmill shelter, maybe a possible sawdust conveyor. We use it for compost and might use it for cow bedding next year. Definitely I’m servicing the machine soon anyway

Hello from Chile. My son Thomas and I are looking at the LT40 here in Chile. What do you think ? We hope to be milling exotic hardwoods here in Chile WAAAAAAAAAAyyyyyy south of us here in Patagonia. We would have to have the saw mill brought in by ship or helicopter. It would be cool if you both could come down and give us a hand. We have been here for 10 years from Chile. On the other side of the globe from VERMONT for sure. My son Thomas is the last of the 6 home with us and he is excited seeing you all do this work. Jim

Hey Jim, we LOVE the LT40. Highly recommend it. It’s simple to use and puts out a lot of lumber. Lol I’ll let you know if I’m in Chile and I’ll stop by! Good luck!

@@RoccaDiCambioFarm We have had over 100 visitors in the past 4 years come stay with us here in Chile from all over the former USA. I grew up like yall on a big farm in South Carolina. We had Herefords and we bailed a lot of hay.... 18,000 small bails a year. That is why I have no back now... Lori, Thomas would love to have you come here and visit and stay with us. Come see us. We are coming into spring now here in Chile. Jim

Good stuff y'all! Definitely a bit jelly. While watching others mill, I notice some people mill three flat sides first. Doing so may help with reducing waste, or increasing yield. Looks as though your doing fine, nonetheless. Please, and again, please do not stick your arm under the logs to clear debris. Use a tool; don't be a tool. Best!

Another vote for HORRIBLE idea to put your arm under logs. If you know that simple 'O' rings are all that keep the hydraulic pressure holding that log up.... terrible idea.
