POR 15 Gas Tank Sealer "How-to Seal a Gastank"

So this POR15 gas tank sealer works very well, but so well that it will never come off. Keep this stuff of your skin and where a shop coat. Overall tho it worked very well and coated the inside of my tank. Thanks for watching, please like comment and subscribe if you want.

I know this is old but for those who come upon it, the instructions say 96 hours to sit inside the tank, NOT 36 hours.

There's a tip in the instructions on the internet that say leave the tank laying on its top whilst it sets so that if any sealer puddles then it will be at the top of the tank where the fuel doesn't sit like the bottom of the tank that has fuel sitting there most of the time when in use.

If I'm correct, rust will develop more where the gas is not, ergo the top of the tank.

@@watermelon4zombies yes, any water that gets in will turn to condensation and collect at the top of the tank, causing rust

Por 15 rocks I Dipped a big dog choker collar in a lil excess that can not be poured back in the can. Next day it was like all the chain links were welded together. Insane. Totally impressive stuff. Slight chance it's from the mother ship.😂

Anybody who reads these comments should know that it says to cure for 96 hours or 4 days, not 36 hours. They also tell you to use ALL of the sealer in the Ca; when first pouring it in.

I use an old whisper fish tank air pump to dry the tank out over night. helps alot

I put a small can of this in a full size 65 ranchero gas tank. I think the day they are 14-20 gallons tanks. I couldn’t get ANY OF the sealer to drain out?! Oh well it’s on the car now I’ll be waiting 96 hours for it to dry and hopefully everything is ok.

The directions on the can says to let sit 30 minutes on each side so that every area has soaked in it for 30 minutes. Then the can says 4 days before adding fuel. Does your can say this?

Sit 30 minutes on each side for cleaners, derusters etc etc. sealant has no time for instructions just to move the tank around then drain.

Can you use this to fix scratches made by gas nozzle? My tank is new and pump guy put deep the nozzle and made some scratches in the inside.

poor tank prep.. look at the mess around the petcock hole.use phosphoric acid and sharp clean pea gravel.. shake the shit out of it.. neutralize with baking soda and water.. rinse with water.. use methanol or mek to remove any water. get it dry ( use a lamp to heat the tank).. then follow instruction on what ever type coating you use.

I'm getting ready to derust my tank on a Puch Maxi. Have got 5L of degreaser and 5L of 30% Phosphoric Acid. Tank not leaking so far as I can tell, but was thinking of adding POR15 sealer after the derust. Have a bag of bolts I intend to use instead of pea gravel. Never done this before and wondered if it would be OK to use sealant after degrease and Phosphoric, instead of the POR's own degreaser and Metal Prep?

So POR 15s degreaser is just a regular degreaser I would asssume but the metal prep they use is phosphoric acid base I’ve used that before for some other projects and it’s the same thing as phosphoric acid, so should work fine.

I find that shaking vigorously is best. Low viscosity helps it to flow to every bit of the tank.
