@@paulforester6996 although throw away cars and on a beer budget it is still fun to watch then experiment with these things so we dont have too and also we as followers can learn what we can and cant do and what will and wont work if we wanted to make a crazy contraption like they come up with. Few things they did on here I always personally wondered if it would work or how to make it work or if it was even possible to do on a super low budget and well these guys cured that question and funny enough I didnt even have to comment to try such things they did it anyways like reading my mind , although I am sure several other followers made the comment to try it out thusly also further sealing my thought on curing our curiosity

@@paulforester6996 Throw away...yeah 1-2K€ lada next door is throw away i guess. Some have been way more expensive, but then again they have and get lots of money so they dont care. I just hate to see great cars being destroyed for sometimes really retarded reasons. Should use new shitty cars and leave valuable old cars alone, or restore them. Just the fact its RWD makes it valuable, let alone how durable old ladas are. They dont make them as they use to and every single one destroyed makes them rarer and rarer.

You should have put the glazed side of the tile against the rotor. It would have done much less rotor damage than the rough side while actually providing more surface contact with the rotor.

@@paulcollinson5244 It actually was the real porcelain used , the glase on the other side is like a thick hard surface to paint on . This is also the side that you see crack on very old porcelain stuff . Tiles of porcelain have only this glase on the front side and the porcelain is exposed on the back side , while things like cups and such is fully coated . BUT I AGREE with you all about , they should have tried both sides .

I use ceramic brake pads on my car and they last like 50% longer than the metallic ones I was using prior, and are barely any more money. A very small increase in rotor wear as well, definitely worth the money.

Probably should have added a small chamfer on each edge of the pads that contact the rotor... should help with getting rid of the grinding.

I once literally wore a set of rotors down to 1/16th of an inch, driving for about 3 months on worn out pads - financial crisis, flat broke living paycheck to paycheck for a while. While I don't recommend doing this, I knew for a fact it would work out as my 92 Chevy Lumina had thick rotors and approximately 2-3 inch long pistons in the calipers. As I planned on replacing everything at the end I made it thru. Funny thing was a local shop tried to use scare tactics on me, " you can't do this you'll wreck when you can't stop !!! " Thanks Kauffman Tire, just lost my business, I have a brain and understand the forces involved better than your salesman, it just takes stopping sooner and more gradually. All in all the 3100, 3500, 3800 powered Luminas and Buick Regals were some of the best running cars, excellent powertrains and braking and when pushed to racing speeds to firm up the suspension good handling as well.

Next time mix some binder (high temperature glue, epoxy) with some sand and mold them into brake pads and see how that holds up.

Ask the tile manufacturer to add some aramid fibre into a tile mix. That would hold the material together .

MrVeryCranky has a good idea. You should have also got them waterjet cut like the ceramic clutch. Better fit and again they have heat resistant adhesive. Glue for high heat.

Hard wearing but i have my doubts about stopping power!! Rough up the surface of the pad with a sander. You CAN NOT have HARD pads they would WEAR the disc rotor in NO time, it is the Same with pistons and rings, the bore can be Hard BUT NOT BOTH Bore and pistons one must be hard the other a little softer.
